Location and Rooms were of decent quality.
Reception staff are appalling and as the 1st contact that ruined it all. Poor communication between front desk and management. Requested management call back on 3 occasions and never once called back.
Poor IHG on all fronts.

I chose this location because of the neighborhood. There is a bookstore I like and some crosswalk paintings that I appreciate. I also like that the hotel is close to the tube station and that the room is a nice size.

The location is very convenient – right in between the British museum and King's Cross station. It's easy to move around the city using buses and the Underground.
Although we booked a twin room, we were given one with a queen bed. The staff also weren’t very attentive to our requests.

Great location, convenient and reasonable cost with a hearty free breakfast. Rooms are good size with free amenities, snacks and drinks. Staff is courteous and friendly going out of their way to help. There is a Tube station a minute away to get to Heathrow Airport direct. British Museum nearby.
There was construction going on but it didn’t affect our stay.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. Our first night was spent in a room with a broken air conditioner, and on the second day we were moved to another room that didn’t even have a fridge.

Hardly anything. I liked to leave the hotel in the morning.
The air condition in the room did not work which is not acceptable. At outdoor temperature of nearly 30 degrees C, combined with humidity in the room and musty smell, the experience was just awful. As I was rushing to an event in the evening, I used the room to take a shower and change. Needless to say, I left the hotel completely soaked. Once I came back at night, I requested a change of the room. The person at the reception seemed to try to help, but seemed to be a bit lost at the same time. First promised to find another room with working AC, then decided there were no other rooms available. Finally, found a room only when threatened that we would resign and request reimbursement. Eventually, I could relocate to a room with working AC, but this should not have happened in the first place and once it happened the change of the room should not have taken so long in the middle of the night.

Wonderful
The location is perfect. We did not need to take any public transportation and we visited every touristic landmark. The staff at breakfast were very helpful starting with Nejla, Anu and Raquele. Internet was good. Housekeeping was very good. We were simply satisfied.
We could not lock the wheels of the single beds. There was a misunderstanding between us, the front desk and the maintenance staff. But it’s not a big deal.

I honestly did not like anything about this hotel. My experience was absolutely awful from start to finish. I booked an Executive Room with specific expectations, but instead, I was forced to stay in a downgraded standard room for two nights. The hotel failed to deliver what I paid for and showed zero effort to take responsibility or offer any fair compensation. The service was unprofessional, the management was unresponsive, and the entire stay felt like a complete scam. I would never return to this hotel and strongly advise others to stay away if they value honesty, comfort, and proper treatment.
I had an extremely disappointing experience at Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury by IHG, and I feel compelled to warn future guests.
I booked and paid for an Executive Room with two separate beds – a premium category – but when I arrived, I was told that room type was not available. Instead, I was given a lower-category standard room for the first TWO nights. After I complained, I was finally moved to the correct Executive Room, but only after enduring two nights in a room that was NOT what I paid for.
What’s worse is that both the hotel and Booking.com refused to refund the price difference or offer any form of compensation. I paid for a premium experience and was given less – and no one is taking responsibility for this serious failure in service.
This is not just about money – it’s about basic honesty and customer respect, which were completely missing in my experience. The response I received from customer service was dismissive, unhelpful, and completely unacceptable.
I will never book this hotel again, and I strongly urge others to avoid it if they expect professionalism, transparency, and proper treatment. This was a major letdown and a clear breach of trust.
