The breakfast was absolutely lovely. The staff could not have done enough to make my husband's 40th birthday special. The terrace was incredible, as was the location. We enjoyed exploring the market and it was easily accessible for our plans for the theatre etc. Probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in the world. Also very reasonable prices for drinks and breakfast etc.
The secret toilet was not working behind the bookcase but that wasn't an issue for us.

Probably the best hotel I have ever been. The quality of everything, from the bed to the service and the breakfast was simply superb. Not to mention the design and tasteful decoration. The fact that it is housed in a 1724 property just adds to the whole experience.
There is a short, but very agreeable, walk to most stations

Pleasant
Location.
Friendly staff.
Good room service
Old Worldly furnishings
Over priced for what it is, paying for location I guess ?
Heated towel-rails didn’t work.
Cold bathroom floor.
Low in-room lighting.

It’s as if you are guests in a lovely early 1900s city home, and you walk out the door on quiet Folgate St down the block to the bus or Liverpool Station. An oasis in the middle of central London.
All good.

Absolutely the most charming hotel; beautiful decor; lovely room. Terrific, helpful professional staff. Loved the bits about each of the rooms and who they were named after. Close to the Liverpool Street Station.
Was located in a part of London that I'm not familiar with - however I would like to stay there again for more than one night!

The bell attendant was hospitable and courteous.
The company had intended to include this hotel on our curated list of recommended stays, but this experience raised concerns. It's a shame because the hotel is beautifully historic. I was promised an upgrade to a superior room before booking and was encouraged to book quickly to receive it. I followed those instructions, but no upgrade was given. The hotel’s response was dismissive and failed to acknowledge the actual issue. For a hotel positioning itself at this level, the lack of accountability was difficult to ignore.

The location was perfect, the hotel is tucked away on a side street just away from the hustle and bustle of Spitalfields indoor market. Walking into the hotel is like stepping back in time.
Nothing, the honesty bars are a great idea. You can get lost in a book in the library.
