Location is good.
I booked a Deluxe King room through Booking.com. At Booking.com, the room was described to come ”with a view”. After entering the room, it was obvious that there was no view. The window was ”frosted” – the glass was not see-through. Behind the frosted window there was wall. I immediately returned to the reception to ask whether it is possible that we were given a wrong room. The person in the reception rudely responded that the room has a view. He claimed that this is an “internal view” and hence counts as a view. He aggressively implied that I do not understand what ”a view” means. I deem the entire debate beneath contempt. Nothing could be seen through the glass. As we were not happy with the room, I asked whether we can have a refund for our payment (so that we can change the hotel). The same person rudely responded that this is not possible. The reason for this was the same – he claimed that the room is exactly what we booked (and comes with a view). There was nothing we could do and we left for a dinner. When we returned to the hotel, we realized that the property had some issue with the water system. All the water was boiling hot. We were unable to have a shower in either of the two rooms. The problem remained in the morning. For the first 1,5 days, none of us were able to have a shower. All the hotel facilities (especially the bathrooms) are in an urgent need for renovation. The room was NOT what we booked, we were unable to shower, the customer service was terrible. Not even the wifi worked in the property.. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone.

I loved the location It is quintessentially British traditional interiors with a brainwash and decadence about this boutique hotel
The bathrooms are absolutely tiny and rooms on the small side I found the service a little in consistent but Rebecca from the front office proved an absolute pleasure to help us navigate a trip to Scotland . Her patience and genuine desire to please really made our stay . Thank you Rebecca

It’s a lovely property in a central location. It has all the charming ambience of a proper English hotel. The service was outstanding and the room was very nice, comfortable and elegant but not luxurious. I was on the fourth floor, which is accessed by one of those quirky old lifts with the gate and the swing doors. Takes a bit of getting used to but adds to the charm.

Location was great. Helpful polite staff. Linens were awesome. Turndown service in evenings appreciate with fresh towels etc.
Usually at a 5 star we have been to a welcome cocktail offered as it was a special occasion would have been an appreciated touch.
