Good
The Leonardo Hotel is perfectly placed for a visit to Liverpool. It's close to the Albert Docks and only a short walk from the city centre with museums, the Cavern Club, Liverpool One etc. I liked that the communal areas were well kept and the staff was mostly friendly. Special mention to the evening barman (whose name escapes me) who was outstanding. He was attentive and personable and a real credit to the hotel. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise. We expected it to be basic, even poor but in reality it was fresh, perfectly cooked and good quality. The dining area is clean and well laid out overlooking the big wheel outside the hotel. This hotel is a bit of a strange one as it does some things really well but the standard rooms are awful and the cleaning staff need to seriously up their game. Having said all that, it's cheap and mostly cheerful so we would probably stay here again.
The room (320) we were initially allocated was dirty. There were stains on the carpet, food debris in the bed and large stains on the mattress protector, which had been put on the bed upside down. This felt like a deliberate attempt to hide the stains. The toilet cistern refilled very noisily every half an hour which caused a disturbance. Unfortunately we didn't discover these issues until very late at night so we had a poor first nights sleep. However, reception dealt with our concerns very well the next morning. We were moved to an alternative (allegedly upgraded) room (452) and received a complimentary breakfast. The new room was identical to the first only much quieter, cleaner and had a view of the water. When the fire alarm sounded on the Thursday morning, we felt it was poorly handled. The staff scurried down the stairs at a rapid pace with no regard for the guests and there was no direction on reaching the ground floor. It turned out to be a false alarm but I feel the hotel should have a better process in place for directing guests if this happens again.

Lovely location comfy bed nice staff
Sick stains all over carpet by side of bed, can see it more at night when shine light on carpet, could do with a fridge also bedding had stains on them. Shampoo & shower wash a bit tricky to get soap out of.

Disappointing
It was a good location, convenient for restaurants, parking was away from the building but there was a slight reduction in parking cost.
The bedroom looked tired with heavy stains on the carpet, the bathroom was dark, broken toiletries holder and the sink was cracked. The shower curtain only just held inside the bath as the bath was so low. I’ve stayed in another Leonardo hotel and was night and day different to this one.

Location was very good, asked for a low floor room which I got but the bed was extremely uncomfortable the worst we have ever slept in.
The comfort of the bed.

Very Good
Location was perfect for our stay
Pillows very hard and uncomfortable.
In this day & age I don't understand hotels putting baths in with a shower over the bath. They're a nightmare to get into and inevitably you nearly always flood the bathroom floor.

Location was good, staff were very friendly
I stayed at the hotel chain in Mallorca and Im going back again next week, that hotel is amazing, that's why I booked Liverpool, but Liverpool the bathroom was tired and in desperate need of a revamp. pillows were very hard and not comfortable at all. I wouldn't hurry back to this particular hotel
