Very Good
The room was comfortable and large, super big bath and shower. Great view across to the park opposite. Location with park and local eating and drinking places.
Hotel is undergoing overhaul and upgrade of kitchen, bar etc. Once completed the hotel will be even better.

Great location, right on the edge of the park with lovely scenery outside the windows, really peaceful stay. There’s a great range of amenities within the room.

Sakir (the front of house) was extremely helpful and accommodating and could not have done any more to make me welcome, comfortable with my stay and ensure I was well looked after so am grateful for him going above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my stay, so a special thanks to him for everything.
Hotel was in the perfect location for me having family nearby plus was very relaxing having Sefton Park across the road instead of other hotels in the centre of town.
Parking being available in the hotel was also a great help and convenience.
Not a lot not to like but a good breakfast offering would have made my stay even better.

Very Poor
Good location. Impressive from the park side.
It is unfinished and dilapidated.
Reopened quite recently but is in a state of flux, and wasn’t ready to open. No dining facilities. Altogether very tired. An impressive old building carved up by successive hoteliers doubtless to maximise income. Unnecessarily complicated digital combination locks for the rooms. The rooms I saw (four) were very basic, one had a bright white four- poster bed, with Lino on the floor, no bedside tables or lamps, stark cool white down lighters and very basic white blinds which didn’t work properly. Yet the bathroom was brand new! Poor lighting choices in every room. No attention to detail. Not cleaned thoroughly and dirty light switches etc. Odd smell on first floor landing. Stressed staff. Even fire regulations card on back of door was 30 years old and obsolete.

It was a period property with character. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Especially sakir he was always so attentive by checking to see if we needed anything
Water pressure was a low in the shower in room 32. They don’t serve food or beverages but I believe they will be opening that up soon

Cob webs in room
Constant load noise so could not sleep and
When you flushed the toilet sounded like a jet taking off

The location was good but the property was not worth staying in just for a good location.
Very unclean, did not feel comfortable or even safe at some points.

The location was lovely. The hot water kept cutting in and out. However, what really disappointed and annoyed me was something else. The receptionist asked for my phone, saying there was something he needed to check via the app. But I later realised that he had, on him own initiative, given the hotel a full score and posted a review via the app—without informing me and doing so secretly. This is the first time I’ve encountered such a disgraceful situation in a hotel. I don’t know how anyone could stay at a hotel with staff like this. This incident has left me deeply disappointed, and I don’t think I’ll even walk past the hotel again. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Fair
Very comfy bed, good sized room overlooking Sefton Park, keypad entry to room was so convenient, plenty of clean white towels. Manager was very welcoming and very kindly upgraded my room. The hotel was quiet and I slept really well.
The spotlight at the front of the hotel shone directly into my room. The curtains were missing lots of curtain hooks. The surfaces needed a damp dust before using. The hot drinks tray wasn’t refilled at all for the duration of my stay
