Poor
Manager was pleasant and advised where we could go nearby for food and drinks. Provided a phone number and advised we whatsapp if any issues.
Hotel is in a good location, there a many small bars and restaurants on nearby lark lane which is a short walk away.
The park is also nearby and well maintained.
The decor was probably once nice but was now very dated, wallpaper peeling from walls etc. There was a very strong smell of cannabis in the lift.
I did attempt to book a travel lodge 10 minutes after getting into our room.
We had clean bedding and towels, otherwise our room was grim. Carpet had what I think were food stains on it, and the carpet felt dirty underfoot. I kept my shoes on. The skirting boards were dirty and the bathroom floor was also stained with what appeared to be grout, so less of a concern just messy.
The shower worked and temp was ok, not hot enough for me but my partner found it ok. However it drained very slowly leading me to believe the drain was probably blocked.
To top it off we had loud music from a neighbouring room from 9pm until after 2am, while I accept this is not the hotels fault we could not figure out which room this coming from and we asked for support from the manager via whatsapp. As it was getting late I also went to find him when i didnt get a reply. He came back with me and could not determine where the music was coming from and advised I message if it started again. It did and I messaged and was told this would be taken care of, it was not. I was very disappointed in this as I had to be up early to leave the hotel to compete in a sporting event.

where to begin I paid 164 something for a postage stamp size room meant to be a double wallpaper hanging off walls mouldy bathroom floor and mouldy bath mat in bath the bath panel itself wasn't even attached to the bath sink was cracked and chipped rusty water leaking from radiator onto tiles underneath no shampoo conditioner or body wash in bottles there was an ironing board but no iron and the duvet was dirty nobody cleaned the room during our stay and the hotel manager is never around it's like faulty towers not recommended at all totally ruined my daughter's birthday weekend asked for refund was told to ask booking.con despite paying directly to the hotel

Poor
The location and the exterior
Dirty, no staff, amenities poor, no hot water, no towel or linens change, no cleaning anywhere ever. 1 ply toilet roll, mould in bathroom, faulty dirty shower, unstable plug sockets, dusty. Filthy doors, with grease and dirt stains on. One member of staff all week (the same staff member) corridor smelled of cannabis. Bar and breakfast room always shut. Creepy, hotel California vibes, better at the weekend when other guests are present but only in terms of feeling not isolated.

Poor
The manager was very attentive and eager to please. The location was lovely, in a big old building opposite a beautiful park with a fountain in the front. The towels were clean and very fluffy and the water was hot.
The overall rundown state of the building and facilities, and the "has seen better days" sensation is constantly present. The manager was the only member of staff around, and this was only sometimes, the main reception area being unattended. The cleanliness and state of repair of the hotel was below par.

Fair
That it is a opposite the Sefton park and only 2 miles from liverpool city centre. The sole staff member was helpful.
The bath room still had hairs on it, the room decor was tired looking and the bed was clean but not comfortable. Could feel the bed springs.

Very Poor
The first room we were placed in was filthy - dirt covered skirting boards, dirty smears on the window sill, wallpaper peeling off, appeared to be blood smears on the bathroom wall. Hallways smelt like fish, bin bags lined the hallways. We were also charged twice by booking.com, hotel unwilling to help and haven’t heard back from booking.com (you’re unable to speak to a person to resolve, all numbers and chats lead to AI). All round terrible experience, wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here or book through booking.com.

Good
We were upgraded to a bigger room which had a bath, which was nice.
No one was there when we arrived and we had to call to check in. It was around 4.30pm so within a reasonable window of time to check in.
The place smells a bit odd (subjective, I know).
Keypad entry to rooms is a bit off a faff with 12 digits!

Disappointing
It was the hottest day of the year and the south facing room curtains were left open. It was about 40 degrees in the room. I ended up sleeping in my car.
