That said, the property does have some redeeming qualities. It’s housed in a large, old building full of character, and it’s located in a great area, close to key spots in the city, which makes getting around quite convenient. With better management and attention to cleanliness, the hostel has real potential.
I stayed at Embassie Backpackers and unfortunately, it was one of the worst accommodation experiences I’ve ever had. The hostel was dirty and poorly maintained, with a constant bad smell throughout the corridors and rooms. The bed I was assigned had a foul odour, and the mattress clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. To make matters worse, there was a plate of old food on top of the wardrobe — it looked like it had been sitting there for weeks, covered in mould and surrounded by flies. The place felt completely neglected in terms of hygiene and organisation. The common areas were also messy and far from welcoming. I absolutely do not recommend this place, especially for anyone who values even the most basic standards of cleanliness and comfort.

Lovely area of the City and very nice people who run the place
The front of the place looked more like a scrap yard than a hostel, the rooms absolutely stunk, when I went in I wasn’t sure weather to just put my dirty overalls back on,I’ve laid on cleaner floor in work shops, the bedding was filthy, the floors had never seen a mop, there is no secured parking by request or otherwise, no bar on site ( as claimed) breakfast, I wouldn’t eat breakfast there if I had starved for a month, I did write to them asking for some of my money back but no one bothered to reply to me.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews but honestly there is no other way of putting it than it’s disgusting there

Nice building.
Kevin Senior likes to come over and go through people’s belongings and rearrange furniture but it’s still a good place to visit for a few nights. Mr Ho is a little crazy too but he’s harmless.
