beds were comfy, good location
overpriced for what the hotel is, felt very unsafe as a solo female traveller as the door didn’t feel secure and could hear a group of men in one of rooms through the thin walls, definitely needs to be refurbished. shower was tiny, could barely fit me and the shower head was folded over so water flow was poor, ended up not showering

The check in lady was friendly
The bed was comfortable
The double room was tiny, with the en suite in what would have originally been been a cupboard
The bathroom in room 81 smelled - we couldn't open the door to air it as it then made the bedroom smell
The room was incredibly small - seriously me and my partner couldn't walk past each other at the end of the bed, it was one at a time
Other residents were noisy - not helped by the laminate floors. This was both late at night and early in the morning
We were in the annex building and despite the sign, other people did not ensure the exterior door was closed which made it feel unsafe (especially given the area)
Car Parking was not good - due to no bays being marked other residents parked haphazardly, and some did double park making it unusable
We were charged £158 (a Saturday night) which we now feel was scandalous, as other nights the cost is around £45ish
The hotel needs lots of updating and TLC - peeling wallpaper, threadbare/dirty rugs, none of the draft beers were available
We did not bother going for the Continental breakfast
I did tell the lady at check out
I will not use this hotel again, and I would not recommend

Disappointing
There was nothing I could recommend about the property.
No on site parking - even though this was advertised.
Outdated and dirty carpeting. Elevator didn’t work. Limited amount of staff - 1 person checking everyone in and serving the bar. Seemed to me like the owners were penny pinching every step of the way.

This is a late Georgian/early Victorian range gentry houses put together to form a hotel. It is in sharp contrast to the air conditioned (i.e. freezing cold) filing cabinets that is the model for most of the hotels in Liverpool 1. The bonus is you can open the window and get fresh air, there is a garden (which would benefit from real grass rather than artificial) to escape into for more fresh air, a pleasant bar/dining room, well appointed rooms with period style furniture that matches the decor, and most importantly friendly helpful staff (the receptionist).
One pane of the sash window was covered with film to obscure the view and another chair in the room would have been better than the oversized wardrobe blocking part of the window, as the window was one of the best features of the room.

Once upgraded, the room was decent enough although the curtains wouldn’t pull to properly and given it was on the ground floor it was difficult to stop people seeing in.
When I arrived, and said I wanted to check in, they directed me to the lounge and took 15 minutes to come and get me. Then when the receptionist had factored around photocopied my passport and then failing to put my car details in for the deposit, I finally got to my room, to discover it haven’t been cleaned. A really rancid bottle of milk in there, bin not emptied sheets not changed, and wet dirty towels in the shower.
I complained and did eventually get another room, which was actually an upgrade. However, all this made me very late for the person I was meeting, and I didn’t even have time to have a shower before going out.
I have never been asked to present photo ID in this country before, and I’ve never been asked for a deposit for a hotel room. Not only was it all a faff, but I queried what they were gonna do with my personal information i.e. the photocopy of my passport. She said they kept it on file for a few weeks. I told her I was unhappy with this and she said she would shred it on my departure. I have no confidence that this actually have happened.

Stayed here for a 2 nights for comic con Liverpool. It was very convenient location to get into city centre. The parking was free which was excellent. Very good Indian restaurant round the corner called Akshaya-The Picture Drome. Very clean and friendly staff. Gave a ground floor room with en-suit that we asked for without any problems or delays
Breakfast was okay, wasn’t amazing. No hot food for breakfast. So it wasn’t the greatest. Only continental.
