Staff were good and willing to go out of the way to help...rooms were clean though a bit dated...
A cooked Breakfast was only available for a sitting at 10am ..other than this you could have a snack box of Croissant, muffin and snack..left out for collection at reception...a bit disappointed really..

Friendly staff, clean comfy room
Breakfast served too late and only at 10am , breakfast takeaway bag left to collect but as this is done by trust - someone stole mine on my last morning so I didn’t get the breakfast I paid for.

We contacted the hotel 2 days before our stay to see if we could collect a room key as we would be arriving before the check in time to go to a wedding. Staff were extremely helpful and let us check in a full 2 hours early.
Room was very clean, bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent!
Staff were great!

Poor
Not much. Comfortable beds. Pleasant waitress.
1. On arrival at hotel I was informed that a cooked breakfast was available from 10am and a breakfast box was offered for anyone wanting an earlier breakfast. This consisted of a croissant, a muffin and a cereal bar!
Nowhere on the booking.com website is it stipulated that breakfast is so very late.
Nowhere on the booking.com confirmation either.
Nowhere on the hotel's own website.
After booking.com confirmed, I received a separate email from the hotel that mentioned this but ONLY AFTER CONFIRMING.
This breakfast timing in my opinion is almost unheard of but all the existing negative reviews on this subject seem to make absolutely no difference to the hotel management/owners.
Having complained twice about this to reception I was given a £10 refund for each room booked.
Secondly, staff do not arrive back at the hotel until 9:30. Maybe that's why breakfast is so late!
2. In the room, water from the taps is undrinkable and you're alerted to this by a sign on the bathroom wall. Instead they provide approximately 1 litre of water in a bottle, which is supposed to satisfy requirements for all hot drinks made and rinsing after teeth brushing, not to mention water for drinking or filling up my cycling water bottle. Hopelessly inadequate.
3. For my evening meal I had a smoked mackerel platter to start (£7.50)and a burger for main (£16).
About 1oz maximum flaked mackerel with 1/4 hard boiled egg and two new potatoes, halved with mayonnaise and 3 tiny slices of a baguette that were supposed to be toasted but were hardly more than warmed.
The burger was supposed to come with salad, coleslaw and fries. Salad was a few baby leaves in the bun with the burger. Coleslaw was strangely red cabbage in a little mayonnaise. Fries were typical offering.
I didn't bother risking dessert.
4. TV is mounted on an angle poise affair attached to the wall.

The location was okay
The shower was sometimes cold, the food was not very good, the breakfast time of 10am is atrocious that’s nearly lunch time, the breakfast box offered was not really an alternative.

Friendly staff, great little hotel. Very clean.
Breakfast starting at 1000 am, although they do offer a takeaway box if you want an earlier breakfast.

Good
This was a local pub/hotel trying to establish itself under new owners and doing quite a good job - food in the evening was limited but they are working on that.
Breakfast only being served from 10am onwards which is unheard of and totally unacceptable.
They did provide take out bags for those leaving early but they were not good and intact I threw mine away except for the water.

I had such a warm welcome and Uplawmoor Hotel had a really good feel to it. The room was very clean and nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. I would love to go back and explore the area but sadly I was only passing through on this occasion. I wasn't able to stay for breakfast but I was given a goodie bag in its place which was delicious. Parking was ample. All round a good experience.
