We got a free upgrade to the premier suite. Absolutely gorgeous room and bathroom. Staff were friendly and we managed to park not far from the door but note it's not free between 8 am and 8 pm.
We had a lot of stairs to climb to the 2nd floor which isn't a problem for us but maybe if someone not so able were to stay they may struggle especially with luggage.

Pleasant
Size of the room was good. The bath was good fun too
For the price they could do more for you. The bath could come with bath bombs or something like that. Water proof pillows for relaxing when in. Better TV. Room service option.

Good
The room was spotless and the staff were great.
1)The really squeaky metal bed.
2)The sign over the W.C stating that the minimum fine of 200 for unwelcome waste (sanitary) products flushed down the toilet. If this is the case PLEASE PROVIDE BAGS & SUITABLE BIN!
3) Kettle too big to be filled using the tap in the bathroom sink.
4) Poor selection of teabags. Just one normal teabag.
5) Disappointed that the TV in the bar did not have the World Cup Rugby on.

Hotel staff can often make or break a guest's hotel experience. I am happy to report that the staff we met at the Belhaven were friendly and enthusiastic. We chose the hotel purely for it's location, close to our daughter's halls of residence. So we had no particular expectations about the its qualities. Just really somewhere to rest our heads.
I really enjoyed the ambiance. Presumably, the hotel was originally a private house, and it wasn't difficult to start imagining its former glory, and all of the "upstairs downstairs" goings on. Breakfast was lovely, and served in quite an ornate room which must have seen no end of high teas in its time.
The bed was a bit small, but then we probably only paid for a small room (just somewhere to rest our heads), we are quite tall, and we're used to a big bed at home. So, my bad.

Staff were incredibly kind, helpful and generous
It doesnt have free parking. You have to park on roads nearby if you dont want to pay but difficult to find a space

Poor
The entrance.
lots! It was a basement. Room 1 is below a kitchen with a wirring boiler /generator (intermittent all night). Early morning staff on shift were so noisy above. Its a whitewashed painted room. Door still hasnt been fixed from previous guests requests (according to TA). Toilet didnt always flush. Bits of metal came off the shower as you were washing.
Asked if there was another room above deck, told not (searches online) to see there was!?!
My opinion, Stay at the Argl western hotel down the road, cheaper, own bathroom IN your room, breakfast inc, not inc at Belhaven. Lovely welcoming staff there too.

Clean and comfortable room with plenty of space, nicely decorated! Plenty of plug outlets, and good quality WiFi.
We had a lovely breakfast with a fantastic range of options available.
We arrived early and the staff were very helpful in allowing us to store our bags in reception until check in time so we could go and explore.
Excellent location- this is a nice central spot, but the private road and being slightly removed from the city centre make it quiet and peaceful. Theres a handy bus stop across the road services by buses that go directly to Sauchiehall Street.
On arrival we were given a long sheet of information about the hotel, including a code for the main door. This is the only place the code is written down- we did not bring the sheet with us and then could not get back in at 8:45pm as we did not have the code, and no one was at reception. No one answered the phone either when we rang, and we had to wait until someone walked into reception by chance and saw us waiting.
I understand that the door locks for security, however the code should be on the room key rather than just a sheet of paper with a whole list of other information on it. Additionally, if youre going to operate the door in this manner, then there should always be someone at reception to assist anyone who does not have the code to get in.
Aside from this, the lights in the bathroom are so dull that they may as well not be there. There were several poorly fitted and broken fixtures in our bathroom (loose, uneven handles and such), and the knob on the shower was broken. The toilet is unstable and shifts around when sat on, and makes quite a bit of noise when doing so. Functionally these are all fine but this is a poor standard of maintenance for a hotel.

The location was excellent. A beautiful elegant building in the West End very close to the Botanic Gardens and Byers Road. Set back from the main road so quiet and pleasant. The breakfasts were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A stylish hotel.
My shower didnt work on the first morning. The temperature of the water was cold. The staff responded quickly and helpfully though. It was much better after that but the temperature was then too hot and not adjustable.
