The lounge area was comfortable
The chocolate cake and card in the room as it was my birthday.
My daughter and I were having an overnight to celebrate my birthday. The room was not arranged as a twin as per booking. The staff member who showed us to our room said she would find out if the bed could be separated. We waited for almost half an hour to hear. She didn't get back to us about the issue. I was just about to phone down to reception when 2 members from housekeeping came to our room to sort out the bed. My daughter and I were hanging about like spare parts while this was done. If we had had prior warning of this we would have asked for it to be done while we were at dinner. When unpacking I found the surfaces in the room were dusty and sticky which I had to clean with wipes!! Planning to mention this to someone on the way to the dining room found no-one at the desk.
In the dining we were surprised to find the tables were so close together. Our order for food and drinks was taken quite quickly. The first course was delicious. However our main course was loom warm and we had to have it taken away. While we were waiting, we were given a complimentary glass of Prosecco. The main courses were replaced . Once we had finished our meal we went through to the lounge area. We waited quite a while before our drink order was taken.
We slept well and the breakfast was okay. Again the issue was trying to find room on the ridiculously small table for all the breakfast dishes/ glasses/ teapot etc. When the hot food was served none of the cereal dishes etc were removed.
When checking out I did mention the issues to the reception staff who simply apologised!!
Having been to the hotel a number of years ago which we thoroughly enjoyed, we were very disappointed with our stay this time which was to celebrate my birthday. I doubt very much if we shall make a return visit.

Lots of dust under the tv unit, suite booked nothing like the photos, and with a view of the carpark, friends booked standard room and got a better view. Slow service in bar and restaurant

It’s a beautiful property (lobby, bar, restaurant very well designed) in a beautiful location next to the river and the gold court, was very nicely decorated for the Christmas period
They had issues with hitting, suite #2 was very cold, we reported the issue but they couldn’t fix it

The building itself is a hidden architectural gem. The interior is well preserved with beautiful heritage features, starting from the main entrance to The Gallery and Dining Room. Love the swimming pool with a great ambience. The bedroom is modern and top notch for aesthetic, and if you are lucky you might get the view over River Clyde. The spacious room offers a comfy bed for a good sleep, and a luxurious en suite for relaxing.
Excellent staff further enhanced the overall experience. Everyone is attentive and caring, and they go all out to help every guest.
We had the Deluxe Suite, which is located on the top floor of the main building. Climbing up and down the four to five storeys high stairs can be challenging at times (lift is not working during our stay). We stayed during winter and the room was freezing cold. The single glazed window didn't help. Requested a heater which slightly warmed up the room, but we expect better room conditions for this price range.

My one criticism would be the food. My main meal at night wasn’t great.
