Stylish hotel, stunning interiors, really friendly staff especially front desk
Lots of dust under the tv unit, suite booked nothing like the photos, and with a view of the carpark, friends booked standard room and got a better view. Slow service in bar and restaurant

It’s a beautiful property (lobby, bar, restaurant very well designed) in a beautiful location next to the river and the gold court, was very nicely decorated for the Christmas period
They had issues with hitting, suite #2 was very cold, we reported the issue but they couldn’t fix it

The building itself is a hidden architectural gem. The interior is well preserved with beautiful heritage features, starting from the main entrance to The Gallery and Dining Room. Love the swimming pool with a great ambience. The bedroom is modern and top notch for aesthetic, and if you are lucky you might get the view over River Clyde. The spacious room offers a comfy bed for a good sleep, and a luxurious en suite for relaxing.
Excellent staff further enhanced the overall experience. Everyone is attentive and caring, and they go all out to help every guest.
We had the Deluxe Suite, which is located on the top floor of the main building. Climbing up and down the four to five storeys high stairs can be challenging at times (lift is not working during our stay). We stayed during winter and the room was freezing cold. The single glazed window didn't help. Requested a heater which slightly warmed up the room, but we expect better room conditions for this price range.

The room was great and we could not fault the staff. Spa facilities, again great and ideal location.
We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Mar Hall, particularly given its five-star status. We were hosting guests during our visit and did not want to make a fuss at the time, however the standard of food was well below what should be expected.
At dinner, the fish was overcooked and dry, while the carrots and pigs in blankets were extremely oily. Unfortunately, breakfast was no better — the food again felt excessively oily, and the eggs were extremely watery and unappetising. For a hotel of this calibre, the quality and consistency of the food was a major let-down.
In addition, we were very disappointed that we were not informed prior to our stay about the ongoing works within the hotel. Accessing our room required walking outside to the main entrance, as it was not possible to navigate internally through the hotel. This significantly impacted the overall experience and is something we feel guests should be made aware of in advance.
We did raise this with a member of staff, but were told that there was nothing that could be done. As we were hosting guests, we chose not to pursue the matter further at the time.
Overall, our stay fell far short of expectations for a five-star hotel, and we left feeling thoroughly disappointed.
