Only a few minutes’ walk from the SEC campus, the 4-star Crowne Plaza Glasgow overlooks the River Clyde. It has a leisure club with a pool and spa, as well as a maritime-inspired restaurant and bar. Glasgow Science Center and BBC Scotland are both just a short walk across the river over the bridge from the Crowne Plaza. The city center is about 1 mile away, and the Exhibition Center Rail Station is 0.4 miles’ walk. Each bedroom has air-conditioning and a cable TV with pay-per-view movies. Reception staff very good.
Where do I start? Lifts are a joke as you wait for ages. Room 115 next to lift landing and fire door loose so banging shut all time - fire risk methinks. Breakfast not IHG standard nor breakfast manager, use term loosely, who treated clients (my wife included) like second class citizens. Hotel gone downhill since last visit and we will never be back. Disgraceful.

The room was well equipped. The bed was OK. We had supper in the restaurant. The fish and chips was good. But it wasn't cheap. We had asked if bar snacks were available. They were, in fact. But the receptionist had told us they were not.
The hotel generally - and the rooms - are looking a little tired. That black lacquered furniture, once so popular, does not age well: it shows every mark and scratch. There was a ticking noise coming from the bathroom that I could not trace. It was not a dripping tap; it might have been coming from the room above. One has to crawl under the dressing table to find somewhere to plug the kettle in. My review is coming out at 6/10. This is not quite fair. I would have rated it at 7.5
