Location and style
I recently stayed at CitizenM Glasgow and unfortunately found the experience disappointing, particularly when it came to attention to detail.
There were noticeable issues with cleanliness and maintenance. Thick layers of dust had built up behind the TV, and there were visible stains on the side table. Even basic fittings seemed overlooked — the towel rails had been installed upside down, which summed up the lack of care throughout the room.
The in-room tablet, which is supposed to control the lights and TV, was also quite temperamental and didn’t function reliably. This made what should have been a modern, seamless experience feel frustrating instead.
This was especially disappointing because I’ve previously stayed at CitizenM in London and had been very impressed. That stay set a high standard, which unfortunately this visit did not meet.
Overall, this stay fell well below expectations, and I hope improvements are made to bring the Glasgow location in line with the quality I’ve experienced before.

It was central, very close to the bus station and the staff were really lovely and helpful.
It’s starting to look a little tired. Things were not working such as one of the lifts (the same lift didn’t work the last time we were there too). Also the tv connection was poor, mostly relied upon casting from own device. The shower smelled bad and there were stains in the bathroom.

Friendly staff and quirky decor. Lovely breakfast but expensive. Spotless room with comfortable bed.
Minor point but it would have been good if the plates had been heated for the hot options at breakfast.

Tv never worked and got moved rooms at 10pm to resolve the issue only for the same thing to be happening, also there was only 1 lift working, not worth the money to be honest.

Room was opposite the lift and some people on the landing were noisy at night. Door is not soundproof at all.

I encountered an issue with my room, but the lady at the reception promptly resolved it for me. I was moved to another room that had a slightly better view. The staff was very helpful. I also appreciate the CanteenM; it's quite peaceful and relaxing in the evening.
Since my last visit, the hotel's lifts still have issues. In my first room, there was a constant tapping noise from the toilet area, likely due to rattling pipes.

I think being able to get food and drink late at night is really good. The hotel itself is stunning and very quirky.
I think not being able to make a coffee in the room first thing. It means having to go get ready and get one. Sometimes it's just nice to chill in the room.
