Let guests know beforehand when 'wine hour 'is... Breakfast was disappointing...full Scottish..egg yolks like bullets....must have been on the hotplate for a while...surely a fresh fried egg can be done.. takes 2mins!! Room great but very small shower space.. Great small extras

Past experience both here and in Edinburgh had been positive, we were looking for a comfortable stopover.
We arrived after midnight, exhausted, having explained we had a large German shepherd, in the room on the fourth floor was a tiny toy dog bowl we had to keep filling and small bed. The bathroom was not entirely clean with smears on the tap. When we woke I hoped for a swim (one of the reasons we had paid a premium price) but I was told the spa always closes at 9 am and would be closed all day. Breakfast was wretched - we had to wait outside for 20 mins and by the time we could get in a few stale muffins left - I couldn’t summon the will to order anything else. The coffee was good and the waitress slightly insanely cheerful. For us £360 was a lot to pay for a night and apart from the hall decor it was simply bad value for us. They offered us an extra hour in the room but I couldn’t see why you’d want it. It used to be a special place, now I wish I’d donated to charity and stayed somewhere mainstream instead.
