The Location was great, the staff was great, The beds were sort-of comfortable (the mattress was, but I had to pay extra money to get a bottom bunk - which are handspan off the floor - making it difficult to sit on, get in, get out of.)
1) No electric kettle for hot water: a basic expectation in the UK.
2) The Door Locks were broken - with a majority of guests having to come get the card re-imprinted to get the door lock to work. (Safestay pays its employees to waste time rather than fix the locks) I had to hike up to the 3rd floor 3-4x more than needed because the lock never worked.
3) The Lounge (and only common space) closes after 22:30 - leaving no where to sit - including your own bed. Terrible for a Digital Nomad who works late at night.
4) Everything was an up-charge (tea, water, towels, lower bunk, etc......)
5) no common kitchen (no fridge, no food storage)
6) no laundry
7) Breakfast was expensive and meager ($10 = toast, cereal, yoghurt, sliced cheese, weak coffee)
8) No venting in the rooms (my room smelled like a wrestling gym). the bathroom didn't vent.
9) Shower was lukewarm at best, leaked through the night, and had no shower door - causing the floor to get soaked making post-shower activities difficult
10) the power in the lounge did not work - and the few plugs that did, have a power phasing issue - causing damage to my computer. (I had to get it repaired)

The staff was, without a doubt, the best. They were always happy to help, and everyone at the hostel could answer questions and solve any problem. I booked a single bed in a shared room, and my bed was very comfortable. The building was a bit cold because it's historic. However, any issues with the cold were covered by the duvet, and it was pretty clean and tidy. I initially booked for one week, but I moved earlier, so the manager was super nice and chill. On my last day, they gave me breakfast in exchange for my reservation. I would recommend that, if there are any issues or you want to ask something, you go directly to them; they will be eager to assist you. If you book for a week, I suggest asking the staff if they can give you bed 5 or the single bed in the shared room, which is the best one. Besides, the first days of the week are very quiet; then they get busiest, and maybe more people will be switching and moving around.
I didn't have anything to complain about during my stay there. It was good, and the price and quality are very accurate. There may be something people need to know: there is no space to work in the bedrooms because they prioritise the rest, so you will only have access to a lamp and some socks for your digital devices.

The staff were amazing! Rooms were clean and cosy, breakfast was good value for money. Location was excellent, with city centre, restaurants, shops, and attractions all very close by. The building itself was also lovely, and surrounding areas are fab! Would highly recommend!
The amount of noisy, inconsiderate, drunk people, I understand it's not the fault of the staff or hostel, but I barely got a nights sleep with all the noise.
