The location is the best in town. Absolutely friendly staff they gave us the room early without even charging us. I would absolutely recommend it to everyone coming to Edinburgh
The only problem was the lobby on the 4th floor and the elevator from the bottom to the 4th floor was under maintenance.

The interiors were stunning and some people there like the concierges were exceptional. The location is also ideal.
Therest were roadworks right in front of the hotel so we had to use Market Street entrance but there was no signage and luckily, the kind taxi driver helped us or we would have been lost!
I had booked and paid for a Director’s room. As a result of the lift being out of order, I would have had to take a lift to the 7 floor and climb another set of steep set of stairs to get to my room. I was not told this and it was a problem as I had had surgery on my knee and I am unable to climb stairs. So, we were put up in a much smaller room. Essentially, I had paid for a product I didn’t
receive. Despite speaking to the manager on duty called Ben and sending The Scotsman various emails for reimbursement; no actions were taken. No apologies. I was just expected to accept that I had paid for a product I didn’t receive. It’s truly shocking behaviour from such a prestigious establishment. I checked out of the hotel today and requested a late check out. Without missing a beat, Ben told me it would cost 15 pounds an hour, until 1pm. Truly, I am deeply disappointed with the lack of care and action from The Scotsman’s management.

Breakfast in the room came with smoked salmon on the bacon !!! So my friend hates fish kind of ruins the breakfast. Then second day went down and the breakfast just wasent great.

Wonderful
The Scotsman is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is amazing. The Manager,Ben, went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. The overall stay was fantastic and the location is amazing. Walking distance to many sites in the city and quick access to transportation.
There was one lift that was down when we were there but that happens and repairs need to be made and was only a slight inconvenience when arriving.

Great location and the room was spacious with a modern bathroom.
The lower level lifts were broken and there was a long wait for the single, small lift. The corridors and reception were small, a little tired and cramped during peak times. A lot of road work outside added to the chaotic feeling.

Terrible entrance with very little information provided to even find the Market st entrance. Must arrive to this entrance if arriving by any transportation. Once inside no one available to help but a sign that says to take the lift(elevator) to the first floor and then another to Floor 4 to reception. BUT elevator does not work -broken- and only way to get upstairs is by long flight of stairs

Location is perfect, view from the room was amazing, the staff is very polite and helping, the room and other premises are very clean and smell nice, breakfast quality and food variety during breakfast was amazing!
Two things prompted me to rate 8 out of 10 are the bathroom which was extremely small even for the tiny person like me, and inconveniences related with a broken lift. Those things themselves wouldn't be annoying if not a price I pay for the 4-night-stay. It was high, so you'd expect a flawless experience for such cost.

It was close the city centre and easy walking distance to everything. The staff were friendly.
The lift broke and although there was a lift in reception that went to the bar , there were x2 weddings while we were there with receptions on that area & we didn’t feel comfortable using it. My mother is in her late 70’s and although this was only x1 flight of stairs we tried to limit our time going in and out because of it.
Really disorganised booking a taxi , the person who was supposed to take our cases took someone else’s even though our taxi was waiting, another person said they would help then attempted to leave x1 case at the top of the stairs while I carried one. I would not book a taxi through the hotel the driver added £4.80 when we sat in it then another £6.80 when we got to the airport and claimed it was bc the drop off charge was £6. We booked it through them as they advised would be £20-£30 but ended up being £40.

A beautiful location, historic, interesting.
Unfortunately, the second lift was not working whilst we were there. This made it a little difficult for a place that is quite expensive, also the carpet looked a little dirty.
