Dinner in the Grand Cafe. Bed comfort. Helpful porters. Prosecco on ice on arrival is a nice touch and complimentary newspaper.
Arrival at hotel during roadworks is chaotic and nobody there to assist you on arrival at a side entrance. Room was stale as windows don't open so stale air gets circulated by air conditioning. No corkscrew available in whole hotel to open our wine, they had to send someone out to buy one! Dinner in grand cafe was lovely but wrong wine bought to the table and opened before we could check it. Press Bar closed for a private function and no advanced notice given so very dissapointed that there was only a tiny little bar area to sit in which could only accommodate 15 people and it was not staffed so our drinks took 15 mins to arrive and nobody available to reorder, you had to get up and go and find someone. Hairdryer in room had PAT Test label on it which said next test due April 25! Breakfast is in a crammed conference room. Absolutely not worth the money being charged per night and I would not return. So dissapointed that our stay was like this because it is after all an Iconic Hotel. We found other hotels in the same area were offering much more in terms of choice of areas to enjoy and a far higher guest experience, for far less cost per night! All of this was brought to management attention and overall response dissapointing. They waivered the cost of the free newspaper from our bill?! However the dar park ticket which should have been discounted didn't work so we had to pay full price £20 for 24 hours.

When placing the booking many months before I requested a room with a bathtub. After several emails it appeared that this has been arranged. Upon arrival it was apparent that it had not.

Great location, staff were very accommodating with requests to decorate the room for my partners birthday. Very clean, feature rooms are absolutely gorgeous, incredible view of the city and the touches of a free drink & bottle of fizz included in room is lovely. Bluetooth speakers built into the room & bathroom was very cool & our own private window seat bar area in the room is amazing too.
Bar & facilities incredible, cinema & gym too!
Only thing was one of the house keeping staff was very rude to us for being in the lift with our suitcases when he had been waiting for it for a while with the laundry trolley. He was very unreasonable and continued to raise his voice at us, we did tell the reception but they didn’t seem to care much
