Everyone is so friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares. It was close to the attractions that we wanted to visit. The building itself was amazing!

The location is excellent, beds and pillows are very comfortable, the interior design of the room is beautiful, room space was great, the free whisky touch was lovely and it was really good whisky, free milk in the morning was also much needed and it’s the attention to these details that makes a hotel 5 stars, free hot chocolate at the entrance also a nice touch
Road works happening at the time made entering and exiting the hotel awkward, but this is nothing to do with the hotel, perhaps maybe post on the website to let guests know

Very Dissapointed with the check in process, no details relating to Breakfast, Hotel facilities or Local recommendations.
Had a query which went unresolved and despite asking twice, failed to receive contact from management.
General areas around and outside the Hotel were grubby - Encountered a Rat on the Scotsman steps, indicating general poor hygiene.

Excellent position and room. Very big room, comfortable, with all the facilities for every need.
Very good breakfast: tasty, high quality food, all the options for all the tastes.
Staff available and willing to support.
The heating system in our room was not working.
The staff was available to support us as soon as we called for assistance, however the support was a bit clumsy and as if the staff didn't communicate well among them.
In fact, the staff representative that intervened initially, told us that the entire wing of the hotel was without heating, then he promised to bring in the room 2 Dyson electric heaters, but then he gave us one only. Although it was enough to warm the room up, it is as if he changed his mind at the last moment. Finally, when we reported this to the reception the day after, it seemed like they didn't know at all that an entire area of the hotel was without heating as we were told the day before.
In fairness to the hotel staff they were understanding of the miscommunication issue and offered to write off the breakfast charge from the bill.

Great location and friendly staff
Room very dark. Scaffolding up directly outside window which made what would already have been a dark room quite cave like. Needed lights on even in daytime. Not an inviting space. Did mention on check out and was promised contact which never came. Usually stay at the George and will go back there next visit. It’s a shame. Lovely old building with beautiful features but room dinginess made it no more inviting than the premier inn. No doubt other rooms may be better. Perhaps we were just unlucky
