The Scotsman is a beautifully restored hotel directly across from the train station. Our room was veey clean and the air conditioning was greatly appreciated. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

We loved the location. It was especially easy to get to when arriving by train at Waverly. Staff was great.

Great location in the Old Town of Edinburgh. Easy to walk everywhere. Very comfortable beds and accommodating staff.
Restaurant could be a bit better - food was inconsistent, good one day but not the next. Also, I had some plumbing issues in my double standard room.

Location is amazing and preppy hotel. Breakfast was really good.
The carpets. They hose beds to be out of the hotel. They are old, with more stains than clean spots. It diminishes the overall value of the hotel. Also, the elevator, wow, incredibly cheap, it looks like a lift for employees in the back side of a business, not for customer paying lot of money for their stay

Because of construction right under the windows of the hotel room my husband could not sleep at all. He came down reception several times at night and complained about the unbearable noise. The construction work ended only at 3:50 am, so he could not sleep all night. The receptionist promised compensation for inconvinience but that did not happen yet.
