The staff were lovely, as was the location and building.
The room needs redecorating. The lampshades were stained and mouldy, the window very difficult to open, the carpets looked dirty and the room smelled. The bathroom had a cracked sink and broken fittings. The shower head did not fit/stay up.
There were far too many things in the room, which made it difficult to move around. There were also too many things in the wardrobe - we had to take them out to be able to hang our clothes, which made the room even more cluttered.

Breakfast was varied and had a great selection of fruit...staff attentive and courteous and friendly...

Spacious room, comfortable bed.
Location of the room meant we could hear other residents from very early in the morning and music playing in the breakfast room. Breakfast was ok but not a lot of choice.

Good breakfast, free upgrade, quiet but close to restaurants and where I wanted to be.
Music playing in the breakfast room, could be heard in my room from 7.30am not ideal jazz piano music first thing, commented to staff who turned it down so if on ground floor maybe an issue.

The room was comfortable and well supplied with tea/coffee making facilities. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had ample free toiletries etc. Breakfast was Continental buffet style and was well supplied
We reported issues with the shower to management. Also an issue with a step hazard. Both were noted.

The hotel is good value for money . Very clean comfortable bed . Good shower , . The continental breakfast is very good , great selection of fresh fruits , cereals , yogurts, meats , cheeses,boiled eggs , breads, cakes . Tea and coffee served at your table which is nicer than queuing up for the machine in some hotels . The breakfast room is freshly decorated and a lovely bright room . Staff are helpful and friendly .
The shower was slightly tricky to control .Our room was a bit dated as far as the furniture and the desk / dressing table is a bit cluttered . The shower room needs refurbishment , could at least do with a deep clean around edges at shower base etc, the actual fitting were clean where really important. Hopefully they are getting around to installing new shower room , however that will increase the cost , it is good value for money and there is a place for accommodation that is affordable because everything isn’t brand new and perfect . I would stay again .

Great value for money. The memeber of staff at reception was very helpful and polite. It was also very quiet and the garden at the back, with the benches, was nice.
Continental breakfast was okay but alot of the fruit was from tins, which wasn't good. Boiled eggs were still in their shells, which was annoying. No marmite for the toast and there was no shredded wheat. Only small things though, that didn't really affect my opinion of the hotel

I had a wonderful stay at the Salisbury Hotel. The location is excellent – it’s very well connected to the whole city, which made getting around easy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything I needed. My room was comfortable and nicely decorated, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I was very happy with my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
