Everything was great, apart from the lovely old building has a lift/elevator that is unrepairable which means that some rooms involve going up then down two flights of stairs. Make sure you request an accessible room if you need one! The location, staff, cleanliness, and food were all excellent, and it was good value considering it's only an easy walk away from Waverley

Hotel is nicely located in the city. Easy to reach kost of the major attractions.
Staff serving breakfast were deliberately unwelcoming. The elder two staff made so much noise clearing tables that you have to conclude it was deliberate, and to diminish the guests enjoyment of their meal. I really felt sorry for the younger guy that worked there as it looked like a toxic environment for him.

We enjoyed the old quirk of the building, and the stylish modern comfort of the room. The location of the hotel is ideal, walking distance to many key sites in downtown Edinburgh, yet on a side street for a quiet atmosphere.
It would be helpful to have a ledge in the shower for soap and shampoo.
