I booked this hotel for one night. I popped over from Glasgow to see a show at the Playhouse. The location was extremely convenient for my purposes.
I didn't mind, but I would like to warn anyone with mobility issues. It wasn't communicated when I booked, but upon check in I learned I had to go up a few flights of stairs, go to the end of a hall, then down another few flights of stairs to reach my room.

The location, the decor, the lovely warm fire in the entrance lounge, the breakfasts and the friendliness of the staff.

Great location on Calton Hill, we could see the cenotaph from our window. the room was spotless and very comfy. It was tastefully furnished. this is the third time i have stayed here and would again. Its a great position for the car park too. When you walk out of the hotel it is a 1 minute walk to get onto Princes' street.

Mattress could possibly turned as I seemed to have the feeling of rolling from the middle out but it was still comfortable it was possibly because people sit on the side of the bed

The hotel has a lot of character and the room was lovely, the staff friendly and the location close to everything that I wanted.
Depending on when your stay is, month or time of the week, like many places in Edinburgh, it can be extremely expensive. I liked it enough that I changed one booking to this hotel, but my future bookings are more expensive than this one was.
