Located just a 1-minute walk from Princes Street, The Caledonian Edinburgh George Street's bars, restaurants and shops are less than a 5-minute walk away. There is free WiFi available throughout. Originally built in 1903 as part of Edinburgh's central railway station, rooms at the hotel each have a flat-screen TV, a bathroom with designer toiletries, and fluffy bathrobes, as well as unobstructed views of Edinburgh Castle. . When I asked for more bottled water for the room at the end of the evening at reception I was told they had no water left waiting for a delivery and to drink water from the bathroom tap … that i was in Scotland and it was fine to drink bathroom at water

Absolutely everything. Beautiful building, huge room and bathroom, free upgrade on arrival, staff so friendly and smartly dressed. My room service dinner (steak frites and hospitality cabbage) was exquisite (especially the cabbage!), pillows and bedding very comfortable. Wish I could’ve stayed longer!
A little noisy in the morning but that’s expected in such a prime location.

The Caledonian is exemplary and offers exactly the kind of relaxation that you'd want from a stay in Edinburgh. The room was comfort beyond expectations, the facilities were excellent and the decor and service from the staff made for a great stay.
The catering for vegans could perhaps be improved, as the vegan bacon provided at breakfast was overcooked and costed quite a bit. This didn't however spoil our experience.

The staff were first class and very friendly. The breakfast was good but didn’t like the supplements for omelettes etc. We were upgraded on arrival and the room was huge and very clean
We were half board and included dinner but the choice on the menu was very poor and it was the same choice for the next night we stayed . For the size of the hotel there was only one lift and got very busy at times
