The aesthetic of the property is wonderful and the charm of the decor, including in the rooms, is excellent.
Location is a little further than Edinburgh Castle than expected.

Beautiful hotel. Great location.
Bathroom bin was not emptied from previous customers, including used sanitary pads. The room was dusty. Dust on skirting boards. Dust on picture frames and top of wardrobe hadnt been dusted for a long time. Switched on electric fan on the first evening and it blew big clumps of dust all over our bed. Had to shake/brush off our bedding after. Bed was not 5*.
There was 3 mattress toppers on the mattress and still uncomfortable. Stained mattress too.

My junior suite was beautiful. The facilities and finishing touches in the room were perfect. I think this is the best room I've ever stayed in. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful.
The mattress was a little hard. The dinner/bar menu was basic, especially for vegetarians.
