The breakfast was excellent. The service was very friendly.
When I requested proof of payment, I was referred to Booking. Booking referred me back to the hotel. All other hotels that I also booked through Booking sent me proof of payment by email.

If only the hotel had more of it's own parking it would be perfect for this area of Edinburgh. Not something you can fix though! Discounted parking in the nearby NCP would be good though...

Room was clean and comfortable, small but good. Location was perfect. Breakfast was OK, not much choice.
Front desk attention at check-out did not meet my expectation. It's becoming frequent that when I request an invoice booking keeps saying that I should request it to the hotel regardless whom I paid to. The hotel refused to give me the invoice stating that booking should be responsible for that. I got no invoice and having to contact both reservations at hotel and booking.com. At the end, after several calls I got the invoice. I don't understand why they make it so difficult. If a customer request an invoice, just have it ready. Really disappointing and too frequent in the UK unfortunately.

The mechanism to adjust the shower temperature was a bit difficult to master. And the breakfast was average.

The location for the festival theatre was good.
I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel and with the response from the reception on checkout. When we first went to room 135, the first thing I noticed was the smell of chips. I later realised this was coming from the KFC downstairs. This in itself was not really an issue until compounded with the noise of the plumbing & running water all night; then the breakfast was very poor. All of the food is under heat lamps so is dried out, the pastries are cold and hard!! At reception the response was a startled look followed by advice that we could have changed room – a bit late in the day for that. I will change hotels in future.
