Stay Central Hotel is just a 3-minute walk from the historic Royal Mile. Located in the Cowgate, this lively budget hotel is in Edinburgh's Old Town, within half a mile of Princes Street. It surrounds the Three Sisters bar, a pub and nightclub that hosts entertainment and lively events nightly. Dating back to 1621, the Stay Central Hotel retains many original features. The property is in a great location. We had the dorm room which is perfect for a Hen do. The bar below is fun and the staff helpful.
The electric in the dorm room keeps tripping if multiple people use electrics (which they always do) and it took the facilities guy a good while to fix it, meanwhile there’s loads of people with wet hair in the dark. Once we found the fuse box (above fridge) it wasn’t an issue as we could fix it ourselves but it was a problem when we relied on others to fix it.

Just don’t think you should advertise air conditioning if its lowest setting is 21 degrees C. That’s not air con. That’s heating. Really makes sleeping hard if you’re an air con fan.

Good location to central old town Edinburgh and ability to have more beds. Ping pong table and big screens showing soccer were nice. If I didn’t have kids with me I would have enjoyed the party scene atmosphere in courtyard more.
Not kid/family friendly when you have to walk thru loud, drinking, crazy party scene to get to room. Then you are kept awake until early morning with loud music, people banging doors to go to bathroom and loud banging above us until 2am. Don’t recommend this place for weekend stay if you have kids. Beds were not comfortable and room was very warm. Fan didn’t work much and bathroom door had a large gap right by toilet that had to be covered up. Also no elevator but stairs.

Rooms were clean, nice bathroom
God damn club next door. Super loud until 2am. Could not sleep at all. Staff seems not to care, wifi didn't work properly, could not even buy coffee in the morning due to technical problems. And the cleaning Lady didn't even knock, just entered the room at 10 am, one hour before official check out.

Hotel sits above concert place with super loud music till 1am. Despite triple glazing, indoor window is vibrating. Earplugs are mandatory or you need to be prepared not to sleep before 1am.

They were phenomenal! The front desk lady was dealing with a big party when I got there but was beyond nice. They threw in a bottle of prosecco for my birthday and were so VERY accommodating when I extended for a night. Hoghly recommend!

Pleasant
Perfect location if you want to explore Edinburgh through bars and cafes, however on the first floor the noise from the club next to it was very noticeable. Would be better if the hotel provided earplugs. Besides that, hygiene could be way better. We found old, used bandages and dried blood stains on the sheets (washed sheets). Shower was way too hot, but got fixed really fast after sending a message. Positives: huge, soft towels, a comfortable bed, a big room with Bluetooth speakers, attentive employees, easy check-in and free luggage storage. Overall a good experience, but expensive and the hygiene part really needs some serious work.
