Hotel is well located, rooms are spacious, bed and bath clothing are great (really great), breakfast is very good (coffee however does take long to be served).
However the upgrade to the Castle View room was not worth at all because of an event with a horrific tent and loud music up until 11pm. They surely knew this in advance but did not mention anything during my reservation.
I told on my reservation that we were coming for a trip as a present for the birthday of our children. I asked if they could prepare something for them for when we checked in, but there was nothing.
If you have children, pool and spa are not for you. Usage times are too strict and short.
I feel that it was not money well spent, since it is such an expensive hotel

Breakfast was very good - nice to see proper Greek Yoghurt available. Hotel is in an excellent location and the staff were super friendly.
Applying a service charge to a bar bill is a little cheeky.

- The club lounge was outstandingly good quality, with one of the best offerings we have experienced (having visited many). The range of food and drinks available was huge, and we loved the fact we could access this for hot or cold drinks 24hours a day. It was lovely to come back from a day out, and take a hot chocolate and shortbread back up to the room. The staff working int there were also extremely attentive and helpful.
- Cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, with modern and stylish decoration, all modern amenities and ambience was relaxed.
- The location was relatively good, and we were able to get to most places on foot (approx 20 minute walks)
- All staff who we interacted with were kind, professional, warm and helpful
- The door to the bathroom and toilet does not provide any privacy. I was with my partner of 14 years, yet still do not appreciate having to go to the toilet via a transparent door with gaps in it and no lock!
- The one spa although nice, was not worth £85 per person for a few hours (in our opinion). Quite tired and one of the only areas where it was quite dirty, with hairs and peeling paint, looking quite tired. We had entry half price as hotel guests, and were happy with paying £85 for two of us. We would not pay the £85 each having been, not worth this.
- It is policy, though the £250 holding deposit for 5 nights stay seemed quite steep. We had the money, but might be a shock if people are not expecting to have to fork out £50 a night per room deposit to be held until the end of the stay.

The room was very comfortable, large windows with a great view of the castle. Gtreat assortment of drinking vessels in the room and a wine bottle opener - perfect! Fridge was a good size.The pools were nice temperatures. Meal at the restaurant was delicious. Very local to the tourist spots.
The coffee was not great in the M Club.

We were visiting Edinburgh as we were attending a concert at Usher Hall so the location was absolutely fantastic! We arrived early and were very appreciative and absolutely delighted when we were able to check in to our room straightaway.

The decor is very classy. Some might say dated but we really liked it and we hope they keep as much of the original wood as possible.
The jazz playing in the bar was lovely and relaxing.
The staff were lovely and helpful/friendly. Very professional.
Housekeeping knocked on the door at nine am. I’m not sure why, I’ve never had it happen before. I would have thought they would have a system whereby they know which rooms have checked out? It was an unfortunate interruption to an otherwise very relaxing stay.
The hotel is situated in the ULEZ. Unfortunately staff at reception were not able to clarify if we would be charged. It’s such a shame, it would otherwise be a fantastic getaway hotel for us.
I thought £25 for parking was quite expensive given there is supposed to be a discount for people staying at the hotel.
