I have always liked the Sheraton and stayed there as my meeting was at the EICC - you can walk there and park at the Sheraton. I booked well in advance so it was reasonable value for money given that it is central Edinburgh. Room just starting to look a bit old fashioned/tired.
The air conditioning unit in my bedroom was particularly noisy even though I switched it off - which wasn't great as ran all night and kept waking me up. Also good hotels have good toiletries... nothing special in the ones offered in the Sheraton.

The hotel was beautiful and staff very helpful and friendly. The facilities were great too. Bedroom was lovely and had a huge super king size bed which was very comfortable. Loved the lighting in the bedroom!
We waited over an hour for breakfast and it was cold when it arrived. We also waited 40 minutes before I asked where our coffees were and then they went to get them. We cancelled breakfast for the following morning because of this.

Everything! The Bedroom was amazing, super comfy bed and pillows, toiletries and accessories. Staff was professional and welcoming. Everything was spotlessly clean. Drinks and canapés in the lounge was definitely a selling point and a very much needed pit stop between sightseeing and dinner.
We had access to lounge so a few non alcoholic drinks in room fridge would have been nice since they were included in room rate. Also coffee at breakfast, seen the quality of everything else I would expect proper barista coffee.

Very long queue for breakfast, even once seated we had to remind waiter to get us our drinks, we had to remind him to take our breakfast order for hot food and after 25 mins we had to remind him to check if our hot food breakfast was ready yet.
I checked the evening dining room menu on website before traveling as my mother has a very restricted diet to be presented with a totally different menu on arriving at the table in the dining room, we were advised that no longer souffle on the menu and no longer fillet or sirloin steak, only rump (?) steak, we did eventually manage to find something for her to eat. On checking out was advised that the bill had been settled on my credit card and a copy would be emailed immediately, no chance to check the bill, but also 2 days later no emailed copy of receipt and had to phone for a copy. on leaving the car park the automatic barrier did not work and had to go back to reception to get this operated.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff were friendly and very efficient, the room was comfortable and the customer service we experienced was exceptional.
I was disappointed in the quality and size of the towels.

This hotel is ideally situated in the city centre. A short walk to the Royal mile and the castle. Beautiful and clean. Nice touch to have ‘night lights’ for those late night visits to the bathroom.
Check in process was simple and friendly. As was check out.
We didn’t make use of the restaurant or Spa.
The bedroom had a funny smell to it, like stagnant water. The smell would come and go.
The carpark was charged at a reduced rate of £25 per night which we felt was steep.
The breakfast was priced at £17 p/p which is also steep. We ate breakfast next door at All Bar One for half that price.
At 1245am on our first night there was a fire alarm with no instruction. I initially thought ‘oh well these things happen’ but looking at previous reviews it seems to happen frequently.
