Problems in check-in with the a&o App. I did the process online and when I arrived, my information was not in his database. Also I paid for a towel and needed to pay it again in the property.

- Location is wonderful in the heart of Edinburgh.
- Room cleanliness was good. Toilets and showers were clean and nicely equipped.
- There was an electric fan provided.
- August is a peak time for tourists in Edinburgh, so almost all places are too expensive. I booked an 8-bedded room for me and my family (all 4 persons). The price for one night was too much higher than what is expected for a hostel.
- Walking on the woody floor was noisy. I woke up several times because of other guests passing through the corridor.
- Check-in process is not that smooth, and the required information is much. Because of this, there was a long queue at 3 pm in front of reception.
- Sound proofing of windows was not that good.

the bar was always really lively. i liked that they brought a different dj on every night or had some kinda activity like karaoke
it meant that sometimes it got a bit loud if you’re trying to sleep

I like the location and the staff are very helpful.
Although I understand this is a hostel, I still expected basic standards of cleanliness and maintenance. The room was very dusty, and the floor had not been vacuumed or mopped. The bed frame was unstable, shaking and making noise whenever it was used.
Unfortunately, the excessive dust caused my wife to suffer an allergic reaction, which made our stay very uncomfortable. This level of cleanliness is not acceptable, regardless of the type of accommodation.
I hope these issues are addressed so that future guests do not have the same experience.

The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. It is also very close to train and metro stations, making it easy to get around the city, and within walking distance of major attractions.
The building also has an elevator, making it much easier to access the apartment when traveling with luggage.
Because there is a pub located on the ground floor of the building, apartments with windows facing that side can be quite noisy. The noise continues late into the night and often until the early hours of the morning.
The Wi-Fi connection was also very poor and could be improved.

Good central location.
Quite a lot of rubbish outside and felt like the street was quite run down on arrival but hostel was decent.
Rooms above us were noisy. Sound travelled a lot and kept me awake until the early hours of the morning.
Staff were friendly and helpful but very in need of an extra pair of hands on reception. It seemed like one person was doing everything and never got a break without leaving the place unattended and we had to search for someone to help us find luggage lockers on arrival. He was really helpful and friendly. Just needs someone else to help!

The location is excellent and conveniently close to many tourist attractions. The room and kitchen were also clean and well maintained.
Overall, we had a decent stay, but there are several areas that could be improved.
The check-in process should be completed before guests arrive. It would be much more convenient if a check-in link could be sent in advance, rather than requiring guests to complete it at the property. After a long journey, everyone in our group was tired and didn't have the patience to go through the check-in process.
When we arrived, the beds were not made. We had to put on the bed sheets and duvet covers ourselves, which was unexpected and inconvenient.
Our room accommodated seven people, but there was only one electric fan, and it couldn't even rotate. With very little airflow coming through the window, the room became extremely hot and uncomfortable.
