Great location, relatively good value for money, lovely staff, availability when my flight home was finally cancelled at 00.15!
Nothing - would have liked to stay longer (perhaps offer an incentive for existing guests to extend?) & to visit Portobello Beach (weather superb).

Room had a wonderful view and was very quiet. Great to view the Royal Scot memories throughout the hotel. Even met a couple of Royal Scot veterans over a drink in the lounge. Staff were all great to deal with.

100 yrs old club. Family room was big and well equipped - very clean and comfortable. Located in a quiet neighborhood 10 mins from Waverly main train station. Around 20 mins walk to Castle and Royal Mile. Reception staff are very helpful. We didn't try the breakfast/food.

Location was perfect and the room was comfortable and spotless.
Rather a limited choice for continental breakfast but still was of excellent quality. Would have liked some bread rolls/cheese in addition to the pastries.

Location v good, in the heart of new town.
Historical building with period features and an extremely quiet and tranquil atmosphere.
Lounge and dining room were calm and restful.
Staff polite and helpful.
Lack of hot water on second morning was a minus but not a big deal - it happens.
Room furnishings somewhat dated and could do with a refresh.
Breakfast grill, scrambled egg and bacon, was not expertly cooked and lack of a selection of local brown bread was disappointing. Brown and white toast we can do at home and French pastry options are ubiquitous.
As non club members we paid the commercial rate but at £276 for a double room with breakfast it was overpriced.

A well run hotel with lovely old fashioned charm and a calm oasis in the centre of Edinburgh. The staff are friendly, considerate and efficient. The rooms are comfortable and well organised. We enjoyed our evening meal in the dining room.
The option for a jug of fresh milk for tea in the bedroom would be welcome.

The Royal Scots Club is situated in New town area, next to a beautiful park. It is within a very short walking distance from city centre and all main attractions, as well as close to the tram and bus to and from the airport, and yet it is situated in a really peaceful neighborhood. The hotel is lovely, a special place with history and character, not just a chain hotel. If you wish to add a little something extra to your stay in wonderful Edinburgh, this hotel is worth trying.
