It felt like you was in a gentleman's club and you wasn't welcome. You had to even had to ring a bell at the bar for someone to come and serve you. Absolutely no atmosphere.

The space in the bedroom was lovely. It was well furnished and the location of the hotel is prime for Edinburgh. We thought the cleanliness was tip top, the showers were well equipped and we always had coffee available.
The bedrooms are badly insulated which meant sound travelled. We got woken up every time someone would open and/or close a door, or when people passed the street across the window. On a Sunday morning, getting woken up at 8am by someone knocking on the door for water was not the highlight of my weekend. They were actually knocking on the room besides us but it definitely sounded like it was a knock on our door.
As for the room, the bed was ok but a bit firm for our liking. I think this one is just a question of taste.

It was clean and we had all we needed. Close to the city center and nice neighborhood.
The first night we arrived, the toilet ran over. It took quite a while before this was solved. Also, the phone (to call the receptionist) and the coffee machine didn't work. Bad luck, I guess. They did try to solve all our problems ASAP tho (not until the next day, unfortunately). At the end, it was okay.
