Nothing. It was horrendous.
Nothing worked (TV, AC, etc.), everything was broken (table, appliances, etc.), it was surrounded by construction both inside and outside (road construction, other buildings) the hotel, the entrance was reduced to a tiny hallway you had to fight for space in, none of the facilities were available (laundry, fitness, dining room, etc), and the staff were untrained and lacked basic knowledge about anything. Literally. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my entire life. The place is run down and shitty, all the way around.

I It was the worst experience I've had in a hotel in recent years
They warned us that the hotel would be undergoing renovations 10 days before the trip
The situation was chaotic. We arrived before check-in time and they gave us a key to the building next door in case anyone needed to use the bathroom
We had to take breakfast and eat it in our room. It was horrible
And to make matters worse, I've never seen a hotel manager in such a bad mood, she even treated us with mockery.

The room was shabby. The sofa in our room was worn and didn’t look very clean. The wooden table was scratched and worn. The office chair at the desk in the room looked dirty.

Very good and quiet location: the meadows blooming lovely enabled us to walk around at the end of the day.
Comfy and clean room.
Very friendly staff.
Breakfast time was unpleasant.
Due to some renovations in the hotel (until the 14th June) we had to go through a cramped room and grab our things and back to the hotel room.
We wish we had cancelled breakfast previously!
The reception was next to the lift and to the temporary entrance which wasn't acceptable.
There were no work conditions for the young people there.
Our opinion is that breakfast option should have been cancelled until the renovation works were finished. There are available breakfast options next to the hotel.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city but also only a short walk into the centre. The bed was super comfy and the facilities in the room were great.
As we got into our room we soon noticed that the TV was not working. I phoned down to reception and asked if someone would be able to come up and check why it was not working. The man I spoke to on the phone said that no one was available at that moment and unfortunately he couldn’t tell me when anyone would be available. As we had dinner booked that night we left for the night. After we got back no one had been up to check. I phoned back down to reception and someone came up to our room but was not able to fix the TV. We booked our stay at the Residence Inn and were not made aware of the renovations going on until after we had booked. We also found a dirty cotton bud in the shower. Overall our stay was lovely for one night and we enjoyed our time in Edinburgh but there were just a few things that could have been better.

There was no information provided before booking about the renovation. If we had known this, we would not have stayed at this hotel. Very small breakfast selection and a bit inconvenient to carry it to the room.
