The word "legendary" is used to describe the breakfasts at Summer Stays on a poster we saw. 100% true! We liked Arthur's Restaurant which was very close to our block. Beautiful Gardens & lovely tranquil setting despite the high number of guests.
We knew we were coming to dorm style accommodation- it reminded us of our own uni days. Although the luxury of an ensuite makes up for that. The rooms are small & unfortunately we had to change rooms during our stay, due to adding an extra night some mths before & the move ended up being a little inconvient due to our 2nd room not being ready..However the staff were very helpful & even gave us drink vouchers to use at Arthur's. We did find it not possible to work out how to use the washing machine & others shared that same experience.

Great breakfast, large variety of foods and plentiful. Location is great with easy access by bus and train to the airport. And close to Arthur's Seat.
The bathroom could be better cleaned but at £65 a night, I guess this is to be expected?

Very nice location, in a quiet area and close to the hills. Very well maintained gardens. Excellent breakfast.

The included breakfast buffet was great. The selection was outstanding. Room was a typical dorm room and comfortable enough. It was nice to have a private bathroom, though it was small. Beds were ok.
Location was a bus ride from historic center of Edinburgh. It was too far to walk. I thought the price was a bit high for a dorm room not very close to the tourist areas, though it was less expensive than typical hotels nearer the city center. I would not stay here again; I would prefer to be closer to areas I planned to tour.

Staff really nice and helpful
The fire alarm went off twice, once at 2am. All the fire alarms are connected, and the whole building had to be evacuated and stayed outside for around half an hour. It turned out to be a false alarm.....

The location was really close to the city. It only took a 15 minute bus ride. The facilities were really good as well especially the breakfast in the morning and being able to store your luggage. The rooms were big enough for two people and a great place to sleep when doing a city trip.
The room wasn't cleaned properly. The floor was still dirty and the towels had a really weird smell.

These are individual dorms on the University of Edinburgh campus. The room is small but comfortable, with an ample-sized desk and desk chair and a comfortable bed. I also had my own sink in the room. Staff were very friendly, helpful and willing to answer questions. The location is not bad, with a short bus ride to the main attractions. Breakfast was quite good.
A fan in the room would have been helpful. Otherwise, everything was fine.

The girl on reception desk was very nice
The bed was very uncomfortable, room wasn’t clean at all; it was loud. Breakfast room was overcrowded.

Great facilities and very comfortable room.
Perhaps just a bit more detail on how to find the Admin building to book in - a simple map would suffice. Having washing facilities local is a great service but the Uni WiFi is needed to set up an account and the wifi password doesn’t work (for me anyway. Whereas the Uni wifi code worked perfectly.
Overall very happy with my stay tho. Would do it again in a heartbeat !!

Disappointing
Very noisy rooms many early mornings in Grant house. Not from. other guests but from workers and lorries. Impossible to open windows properly. Sad after so many pleasant stays earlier years, Impossible to change to a more quiet location.

Close proximity to city centre, well kept gardens and friendly staff.
Cleanliness in the room needs to be improved, poor sound insulation, rowdy student visitors, noisy doors when being closed. 4 false fire alarms that required evacuation including one at 2am.
