Wonderful
The hotel was excellent and thanks to the staff they were all very helpful and the location was great.
The only down side to the stay was the noise of the traffic on Princes Street going most of the night, but apart from all that it was good.

The best and most thrilling place in town, with the Scott Monument for your eyes. The fine bar had good food and vine, and the serving there was extraordinary fine.
When the electricty went away the second evening, in my beautiful double room, I was invited to move into a small room into a small bed and leave my belongings in the first room, until next morning. And it was expected of me to accept that by three men in the reception. Who would have wanted that? What I did was saying to them that I had payed for three nights a double room, and that would only be what I could say yes to, nothing else. Fair enough. In the end I got another double room and the next morning I got more heat in the room and had a lovely time the rest of my stay in Old Waverley.

The location is amazing, right in the middle of everything you need to see, very close to the bus that takes you to/from the airport also.
The heating was running low in the room and the cold air could sense through the window .
No space for our clothes, just a hanger.
Breakfast was not varied.

The location is absolutely fantastic – just a few minutes’ walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station and within easy walking distance of all the major attractions. It really doesn’t get more convenient than this for sightseeing.
The reception team were very friendly and helpful, which made a great first impression. My room was very clean and, importantly, warm, which was much appreciated. After checking out, the staff were also kind enough to store my luggage, which was very helpful.
There are a few steps to reach the reception on the first floor, so this may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.
My room was on the 5th floor, and unfortunately I discovered the next morning that there was building work going on above my room. On top of that, the building next door was also under construction. The noise started early, which could be quite disruptive. I personally had an early schedule so it didn’t affect me too much, but I can imagine other guests would not be very happy being woken up by construction noise.

I have stayed here quite a few times over the years but feel it is in need of a massive upgrade
The breakfast although very varied was never hot if you had a cooked one

Breakfast was excellent great choice on offer. Staff excellent. Bar area clean food and drink options good. Great location good for shopping or for all other amenities.

Pleasant
Clean cofortable room. Pleasant evening meal however, unbelievably, both first course and main course were brought to the table at the same time. I sent the main course back and it was replaced with a freshly cooked one later.
Typical buffet style breakfast. rather cold and somewhat tasteless. No fried egg option
