Disappointing
Excellent location
Didn't find staff overly helpful or pleasant. Did not like the fact there is so many stairs to climb with suitcases..unfortunately for me I had a 23kg case with me found reception on first floor with no lift far from ideal..on arrival a member of staff eventually met me on stairs struggling with luggage. We had very early departure and I had to carry same case all the way downstairs again, no help or offer of help was forthcoming!
We arrived roughly at 8.45 on night of stay which I believe to be finishing time for food. We had experienced a very stressful and challenging day and really looked forward to eating there, as we has checked out the menu and found it to be impressive but on asking I was sharply advised no that food had now finished!!

Very nice, well located. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Lovely clean rooms. A really nice place to stay, we would love to come back.
A physical guestbook in the room would have been nicer, instead of a QR code to scan. That we had all the needed information.

Reception staff were kind and helpful! Clean room and nice service from the staff was very appreciated.
Service staff were inattentive. We wanted to eat dinner one night and whilst the staff saw us entering the dining hall no one came to take our order until 20 min later when we went looking for them. The breakfast is not worth the money i’d recommend skipping it and eating down the corner.

Location is definitely the main strong point of this hotel. You're right at the main street, next to all tourist points, shops and restaurants.
The room was recently renovated, but the smell of paint was awful! The shower was leaking, the flush barely worked and there were no plugs on the bedside.
Breakfast was quite bad too. Not a lot of variety to choose from, eggs tasted like plastic, toaster barely toasted the bread. You get the gist.
The TV didn't work properly, you had to go around all channels and back to stop the glitching.

Other than a plumbing issue from room above, which was handled well by staff, it was a great stay and great location.
Restaurant closed a bit early for us to have a meal (9pm), but everything else was great.
Nice that they take luggage early if room not ready.

Too expensive for such a small room that doesn’t even have a dresser.

Location is the reason we selected this hotel. 5 minute walk from the main exit out of the train station.
Room was stale and very warm. Without a window it would have been good to have a working air conditioner. The one in the room did not seem to work so it was very uncomfortable.

Centrally located and clean room and view to the Scott monument.
Reception is at first floor and bit of a hassle to reach there with all luggage. But they do provide assistance if required.

The old waverly hotel was great. The location is perfect, being right outside the station. You are within walking distance of all the major attractions, old town, new town, Arthur's seat etc. The restaurant and food where great too. Overall a great stay at the hotel.
