Poor
View from our room was lovely!
There was no lift from main entrance to reservation desk, had to drag our luggage up two flights of stairs, the lift from main floor to room was tiny, noisy room, and a piece of my personal lace undergarment disappeared and never resurfaced, STRANGE!.

Exceptional
Right on Princess Street one block from the Royal Mile. Easy access to everything, a beautiful ancient hotel. Delightful staff, wonderful meals in the tastefully decorated dining room. Scenic view from the coffee shop lounge.

Good
Location, housekeeping staff was excellent, with nothing extra to ask
To get to the reception desk, (where the lift was available), you need to take the stairs, and if you have bags, it can be difficult. The bathroom has a bath tub, which can be dangerous, with risk of fall. It is better to replace with shower. No fridge or safe in the room, can be noisy during day time.

Exceptional
Clean rooms and helpful staff. Extremely easy to find as well.
Popular sites within walking distance or a short uber.
Cleaning crew would turn off ac unit while I was gone so my room was always warm when I came back. It cooled down quickly again

Very Good
Chose the Old Waverly hotel because of the location and it did not disappoint very convenient for our family to reach Old Town, Rabbies bus tours and AirLink100 bus!
Bath has a high tub to climb over when shower and room is a little small, but it served its purpose.

Location was amazing . Food on dinner and lunch menu amazing
Accessibility poor. The hotel Could be made more disabled friendly. Some reception staff not so friendly nor f&b staff. Housekeeping amazing . Would have like a bedside lamp either side of the bed also grab rails in the shower would make getting in easier.

Wonderful
The location was great - super quick and easy from Waverley Station, new town shops and restaurants and easy access to the Royal Mile and old town. Rooms were quite large, easily accommodating 2 adults and luggage.
There are stairs to access the front of the hotel but that was clearly mentioned when booking - it is an older hotel and that is part of the charm of The Old Waverley

Location was excellent and close to transportation and beautiful landmarks. Breakfast room was elegant.
Outside noises were irritating. Soundproof glass might ensure a better night’s sleep.

Room was fantastic! View of Old Town and the Scott Monument. Comfortable bed and great bathroom with bathtub.
More warm options like pancakes for breakfast would have been great.

The Old Waverley Hotel is about a five-minute walk from the main rail station and it the "center of things!" The room was large and I was upgraded to a Princess Street view which was nice and overlooked the Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town. The breakfast was great. The hotel is an "Edinburgh classic."
The price was a little high.

Good
There was breakfast but it was the same food every single day.
The room was small.
The bath tub was odd, big step down to get out, probably not safe for older people.
You have to lug your suitcases up one floor to the front desk but then there is an elevator
The elevator was out of order for a couple hours one day during our stay.
The door lock didnt work and we had to wait for maintenance to replace it before we could get back into our room.
Breakfast food was same every single day.

Wonderful
Clean and close proximity to everything.
There was I think a construction nearby which creates noise in the evening and early morning.

Very Good
The hotel is steps away from Waverly Station. The staff were very helpful. Our room had a perfect view of the Royal Park. Enjoyed watching people in the Park. Really appreciated the staff suggesting an early cold breakfast delivered to our room because we had to check out before breakfast started.
Being on a major street means that busses and street cars passed under our window all night. Bring ear plugs. The room was attractive but tiny -- like a room in NYC. Just enough room for the beds.
