Lovely place to stay, comfy beds, lovely host. Shared bathroom but that wasnt an issue for us. Good transport links nearby.

The manager was extremely rude. We checked in late at 11.30 PM at night instead of the usual 2 PM. The following day, we requested the manager to allow us an extra hour to check out at 11 AM instead of 10 AM because we were extremely tired from the long drive the night before and checked in pretty late too. He started shaming us, passing racist comments, even though he was a brown man himself but still looked down at us. He called the POLICE to get us out of the place because we asked to stay an extra hour because of late check in. Can you imagine the manager of a guest house do that to its guests?????

BEWARE OF THIS MAN AND THIS MENZIE GUEST HOUSE. NEVER GO THERE IF YOU WANT SAFETY FOR YOUR FAMILY AND YOURSELF.

Very nice place with a friendly owner in a beautiful neighborhood of Edinburgh.
Sharing the bathroom can be difficult at times but I never had to wait my turn so cant complain too much.

Not much, but the owner was friendly and helpful.
The "bathroom". It was ridiculously small. Minor details such as the kettle was too big to fit in the sink to make tea. The decor was outdated and was drab and depressing. There was too much useless furniture in the room. No fridge, even a common one (for guests to share).

Very friendly management. Good WiFi. Good location for our purpose of visit. Restaurants, groceries, laundry all within 10 minutes walking distance.
Cramped room. Tiny bathroom.

We slept great and the street was very quiet. We stayed on the top floor and barely heard the other residents. The shower and toilet were nice and new.
The tea mugs etc. were only rinsed, not cleaned, and there were a lot of spiderwebs in the ceiling. And the toilet bin was not changed daily.

Availability of family room.
The room felt old and dusty. There was a bug on one of the beds that looked like a bed bug. And a few weeks later, some of us had bites.
