Great location and hotel/castle. Inside is what you would expect from a castle also, very period and well presented. The bedroom was a good size , well equipped and clean.
My only minor was the options to eat, we didn't want a sit down meal and was looking for some snacking in the bedroom such as pizza or a sandwich but not an option.

The breakfast was excellent, we liked the castle itself, it was quiet, cozy, peaceful, surrounded by nature, horses, the decoration inside is impressive
The only disadvantage is the location, it is not very comfortable, but since it is a castle in nature, there are no complaints

The hotel's environment and decoration are fabulous. I felt a true retreat there. The manner of the staffs are friendly and nice. I felt very comfortable when walking across and stay there.
The hall for breakfast is classically brilliant while the food was so so. Don't expect too much. The basic toiletry was provided. They did not provide teeth brush but floss stick which is reasonable from environmental point of view.

Loved the room, and the decor it was like a dream and I was just surrounded by history. From Mary the Queen of Scots, to Queen Victoria. I was just in awe the entire time. The gift shop had some amazing pieces that you can literally only purchase in Scotland, which I loved. I actually purchased these one of a kind hand-made bracelets, and a dog leash and collar for my dog Brooklyn.
The man who works the night shift at the reception desk, was snappy and seemed a bit rude. I don't know if he was just not used to people of different ethnicities, or perhaps just does not like Americans, but I did not allow him to ruin my stay! The lady in the day time reception, was also a bit snappy at first, but once she realized how much I adored Scotland and the culture, we bonded. I tipped they staff over 30 pounds.

The Castle. Wow. Majestic. Looked awesome. The staff knew my name and used it on every interaction.. every member of staff did. Not just one or two.. The help , support and care I received was first class. I thought my room was very noisy overnight as I was over the main entrance, but when I asked the following morning the staff were very apologetic and explained they had to call an ambulance for a very ill resident during the night and that will have been the cause for the noise. Absolutely I will visit again . I will just take ear plugs or ask for a different room because its too nice to let that spoil my experience of Melville Castle
The noise does tend to travel thru the walls a bit. But there are ways to compensate for that
