We stayed here as a family of 3 with our dog as well, for my wife's birthday. The room was spacious and really well presented. The staff were very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and my wife and daughter loved staying in a castle.

Extremely clean and well presented. Beds comfortable, rooms well serviced. Food in restaurant was excellent.
Bathroom was very clean but was very basic and not in keeping with the quality of the room. No robes or slippers provided-again at odds with the room quality and price paid.

Lovely location stepped in history. Castle was warm, the food was delicious and the staff fun and helpful.
For somewhere so gorgeous little things matter. Litter bins out front needed emptying, trims on room window need repairing, games in Arniston Room need replacing (one game box has inappropriate drawings…)

From the moment you step through the door it’s like you’re going back in time. The smell of the open wood burning fire creates a cosy and warm welcome. As you look up the beautiful staircase adorned with stag’s heads and oil paintings you get all the grandeur that you would expect to see in a historical country house. We had a wonderful experience at Melville Castle. The food was excellent throughout our stay, beautifully prepared and full of flavour. What truly set it apart, however, was the attentive and friendly staff, who made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. A fantastic place that we would happily recommend.

We had a fabulous stay the castle was beautiful and the food in the restaurant was gorgeous
The only thing I didn't like was the service at breakfast we were made to feel invisible, we were seated and then just left, so we waited a while and eventually had to ask some one to order food and drinks, but other people were getting seated and orders were being taken straight away so wasn't the best experience at breakfast

The hotel is located only 30 minutes away from Edinburgh city centre but the area is quiet and peaceful. Beautiful building, warm and cosy full of antiques. Staff was friendly and helpful.
