Wonderful
Staff were lovely people. Bed was super comfy (108). I didn't get a visit from Elizabeth the Ghost, but the grounds were beautiful.
Food at the restaurant was okay. Not the best steak I've had but it was okay.

Very Good
We saw a lot of castles in Scotland but to stay in one was special. No pool, no gym but a reading room with a fire and bar to have wee dram of scotch while my wife was reading an Agatha Cristie novel and I savoured the view an atmosphere. The rose petals and swan towels on the bed was a lovely surprise. The food was excellent.
Our car had a thick frost on windscreen the next day - just joking. The staff gave us a scraper and it added to the brisk bright winters day

The castle itself was lovely
The food was lovely
Comfortable rooms
Cozy bar.
We sat from 6pm for dinner and because we were given the wrong starter it meant we didn't start eating for an hour which we thought was a bit long as there weren't a lot of customers in the restaurant.

Very Good
The location was truly beautiful, surrounded by nature and quite secluded.
Our recent stay was profoundly disappointing and fell far short of the expected standards for a 4-star hotel. The issues were systemic, affecting our comfort and convenience throughout the trip.
1. Unbearable Noise & Poor Room Placement:
Our ground-floor room was situated directly next to what we believe was a staff utility room. This resulted in loud, disruptive noises 24/7, with zero sound isolation.
2. Chronic Lack of Amenities & Inconvenient Service:
No In-Room Phone: We reported the missing phone immediately upon check-in. We were told none were available and to call the front desk with our personal phones. However, there was no cellular signal in the room, forcing us to get dressed and leave just to make a simple request.
Inadequate Provisions: For three guests, the hotel provided only two small water bottles daily. Despite repeatedly asking for still water, they delivered sparkling water every day. This, coupled with the phone issue, made securing basic drinking water a daily hassle.
Missing Standard Amenities: The room lacked essentials standard for this category, no dental kits, slippers, or bathrobes. The bathroom was spartan, stocked only with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, nothing more.
3. Substandard Housekeeping:
Cleaning was consistently poor. We would return to find used coffee cups, items left on the floor, dusty surfaces, and discarded napkins untouched from the morning.
Conclusion:
While the hotel's location is excellent, it cannot compensate for the fundamental failures in service, amenities, and maintenance. Based on the complete experience, especially the noise every time someone opens a door, lack of basic conveniences, and inattentive housekeeping, this property operates at a 3-star level at best. We cannot recommend it to travelers expecting a genuine 4-star experience.

Property was magical, with beautiful scenery and decor.
Just at the fire alarm went off at around 5 am in the morning which woke us up. And it was a tad bit cold.

Poor
The property was unique and met the criteria my wife sought to stay at a castle in Scotland.
The restaurant was a disaster. The quality of the food was acceptable but there are serious management issues. Bar tender clearly doesn’t know how to pour a double whiskey and the scallops dinner proved they didn’t know what the were doing. Where in the world would you be served scallops cut in halves as main course? Both issues were brought to the attention of the bar tender, servers and the general manger. My concerns were simply dismissed. Therefore, I cannot recommend the dining room. That experience tainted my opinion of the remaining time at the castle.
