Staff went above and beyond. Rooms were elegant and pristine. Location serene and peaceful. Fireplace by the entrance made the building cosy.
Breakfast could use some improvements - porridge bland, coffee lukewarm.

Seems to be an event hotel rather than a hotel for a nice couples weekend.
Very loud disco made the whole hotel shake. We could hear it in our second floor room

Lovely stay for our honeymoon. Staff were all very helpful. Dinner and breakfast were lovely. Able to cater for gluten free. Room was gorgeous and very comfortable.
Bathroom was a little dated/shower not super powerful, but this wasn't unexpected based on the pictures posted and the style of hotel.

The outside looked oppulent and old.
The reception staff informed us on our arrival that the kitchen was out of action due to a plumbing issue. We had travelled 200 miles and were extremely hungry and had planned a treat to have a lovely stay and dining experience to complete our travels around scotland. We had to go elsewhere for dinner, which meant we could not drink. We were also told by the reception staff that they were unsure if a cooked breakfast could also be provided the next day. As we were again travelling for a further 300 miles this was a real shock, and was not expected from this so called upper class hotel. We did however receive breakfast the next day, although it took nearly 30 mins for it to arrive at the table and was warm, and not very tasty!! I would also like to add that one of the waitresses made us feel very unwelcome, by not smiling or looking at us the whole time we were in the dining room. This stay was very disappointing and was not value for money at all. During our travels we stayed at 2 to 3 star hotels where the overall service was far better.

Beautiful setting; staff were terrific and friendly (even giving us tips re how to commute into the town); breakfast was really great
A bit of a distance from city centre but wouldn’t say this is a critique rather just circumstance. Plus this brings some relief from a busy day in the city

Only way to begin this is by saying thank you so much, it was a magical experience from start to finish.
So after planning to propose to my girlfriend for over a year and only one place would ever be right to do it (obviously Melville Castle)
Lost count how many times we have stayed here and loved it more and more every time.
From start to finish the staff were incredibly accommodating and just made everything even more perfect.
Stayed in the incredible Castle Suite which I highly recommend!
The restaurant has been just incredible every time (nearly died with how nice the venison was) Fiancée had Cod which was like butter and beautiful.
Thank you again for pulling out all the stops to make this such a perfect occasion and we will be back very soon!
