The castle and the room were exactly what we fancied about. The pics on the website are totally reliable. The breakfast was amazing and also the dinner at the restaurant. The staff was very nice and took care of us.
Despite the distance from Edinburgh City center, reaching there was very easy by bus and affordable by uber
There is nothing not to like. This place is like living in a fairy tale.

The castle itself was a stunning place to visit, especially the entrance as you walk in to the castle, the open fire and Christmas tree were beautiful and welcoming, the decorations, stags, owl etc were lovely. The service staff were lovely.
We found the bed uncomfortable, hard and pillows not comfortable, one lamp wasn’t working but got rectified asap, prices were very expensive on meals so we chose to eat out, this we thought made a couple of the front staff maybe think we didn’t belong there, but overall is was a quiet break for me as I’ve lost both parents to cancer recently, I would recommend the castle to friends.

Beautiful setting and stunning building, very majestic. Staff friendly and helpful.
A bit chilly, only one open fire used in the lobby and neither the bar nor lounge had a fire. General restrooms tired and not overly clean, and the bathroom in the room was very tired and needed a refurb, but it was perfectly clean. Menu very expensive but food in the restaurant was good.

Was a romantic aesthetic, beautiful castel. Is a unmissable experience to stay in a castel in Scotland. In a very convenient location, with amazing service.
The wardrobe doors in the room not really staying closed, but it was probably part of the vintage look of the hotel, which didn't bother us

We loved the grounds, being able to walk in the woods with the dog. The fact that dogs are made to feel very welcome is also a bonus.

It was all very nice but the staff could be a little more friendly and also not have to ask and wait for the basic extras like sauce and toast.
When we asked for 2 x rooms to celebrate 2 x anniversary’s, it’s best not to give one overlooking the rear garden and fields with a view and the other facing a car park. Both rooms could have been with the same view especially as they were upgraded rooms..! Also, I found the staff ok once you said hello to them first but they didn’t seem overly warm to me which is a shame.
