The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. The room was clean and well-equipped with coffee and tea, and the bed was very comfortable. The location was excellent, with quick access to the city center and beautiful scenery all around. If we return to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay there again.
Just one small thing could be improved — better breakfast logistics. The breakfast area was very cozy, but it didn’t have much space. When the hotel is busy, you may need to wait a little for a table.

The Scholar Hotel is tastefully appointed and calming. The room was quite spacious for a hotel room. it was spotlessly clean. There are big fluffy towels and a warming rack. If you need a fridge, it’s there, along with tea, coffee, and snacks . the bed is super comfortable, and let’s talk about the views, at least from our 3rd floor room: we saw Arthur’s seat and the beautiful old hotel next door.
The breakfast is varied, even with fresh fruit. We also had a few small plates that were excellent, especially the green salad with fennel. The gentleman at the front desk was very gracious when we arrived quite late. All the staff are exceptionally helpful and charming.
I have nothing to suggest!

Lovely setting on the University of Edinburgh campus and on the edge of Holyrood Park with a view of Arthur’s Seat, the remains of an ancient extinct volcano. The walk to the Old City is doable—the uphill part is on the return to the hotel. There is a city bus stop conveniently located near the hotel—Commonwealth, with service to the old and new city on buses 30 and 33 (that’s what I learned, and using the buses was easy).
During the night occasional sounds from students passing by, but it’s quieter no doubt than being on a city street.

I love staying at this hotel! The location is phenomenal, right next to Holyrood Park, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Also convenient to several bus lines.
Since this hotel is at a university, there can sometimes be loud people walking by, but it wasn't too bad.

Staff really accommodating, supportive, happy to help. Came to sit an exam and upgraded my room on the day, staff remembered me the next day and were incredibly kind
Honestly, three minor points. One was that the large bed had a midline rift through making the centre uncomfortable but that was not awful. The second is I couldn't turn the lights off from the bed. Third is youtube didn't work on the tv, so I resorted to using it on my phone for studying for the exam. Basically, I was spoiled.

Noisy kids running the hall until 2:30 a.m. I persuaded a staff member to come to our floor and deal with it. He spent 2 minutes looking around and then left. As soon as he did, the kids were at it again. At check out i talked with another staff member. She said that the night manageer left info about situation and said he spoke to the party. That made me angry. Never happened.

The Scholar went above and beyond. We had two rooms next to each other. The beds were comfortable. The showers were luxurious. The location was perfect. Just enough out to town to park our rather large van for free with ease and close enough to be affordable and fast to get an Uber to the Grass Market part of the Royal Mile. Some great restaurants and pubs in walking distance as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Quick check in, room very nice, breakfast was excellent , hotel is in a great location, its not right in the centre so its quiet.
It was busy at breakfast and our order was forgotten about, TV didnt work, had to go to reception and get remote batteries which brought it back to life.

Easy access. Close to many places in Edinburgh I love to go to. Everything was clean and neat. The staff at the desk by the entry was friendly.
The room was quite tiny. I am 6 ft 6in tall and I have stayed at the Scholar before and was totally comfortable, this time I felt cramped and banged my head in the shower because it was so small. But once I was in bed I was quite comfortable.

We loved the location for access into the Royal Mile. A quick bus ride and you're in the heart of Edinburgh.
The room itself was very well kept. It was comfortable, clean and roomy.
The staff was friendly and exceptionally helpful. We were able to leave our luggage prior to and after our stay. Also, there is close parking on site.
