Lovely property great quirky room. Nice shower.
Bit further out than I had realised. And there was a faulty window in our room which the wind whistled through. But we kept forgetting to report.

Very Good
Good selection of breakfast items and great presentation. Staff very obliging and attentive.
Some tables rather small to accommodate tea/ coffee pots and felt a little cramped. Waitering staff could have been allocated to designated tables to avoid staff repeatedly asking whether orders had been taken and /or enquiring about allergies several times.

Wonderful
Comfortable bed with excellent shower. Wide choice of food at breakfast. Excellent location for exploring Edinburgh.
Lighting in bedroom could have been better, and not much room in wardrobe.

Wonderful
I had a full Scottish breakfast, was a little bit disappointed as it said it came with hashbrowns but it was some sort of greasy pancake instead. The rest was lovely though. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean with a pleasant decor and seats comfortable. A continental breakfast was also offered. Rooms were spacious and relaxing environment. Bathroom was clean with shampoo, conditioner, body and hand wash provided. There was also an iron and kettle with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and hot chocolate. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Rooms could only be accessed via your room keycard, giving you extra security and peace of mind. I was really impressed with the added touch of having umbrellas at the hotel exits for visitors to use if it was raining.
Even though I can't fault the staff and the service I received, it would have been nice to actually be served by someone Scottish. I love visiting Scotland and everything about it, so to me it was a shame, after travelling 120 miles to get there and not be received by a native. That is just my opinion, so please don't let anyone be put off from going to the Scholar because it was outstanding and I would definitely book again.

Wonderful
Staff was exceptionally friendly; the location is great (bus stop right outside), beautiful garden and views from the living room; the breakfast at the in-house restaurant is fantastic. Beds are very comfortable. Overall a really wonderful place to stay.
Our room was a bit cold and the carpet quite worn, a coat stand / somewhere to hang jackets would have been helpful - but other than that, there's really nothing to complain about. It's a very well maintained, clean and comfortable hotel.

Wonderful
Great variety of breakfast. We didn't have lunch or dinner there. The room size was generous and you can tell it was recently decorated. Very nicely decorated and comfortable chairs and bed too. Tea selection in room was good. The bathroom was big also with fluffy towels provided. All the staff were friendly, helpful and nothing too difficult for them. Hotel is in a good location and walking distance to start a hike to Arthur's Seat. Multiple local buses that get to city center in 20 minutes are a short walk away.
The radiators could be warmer. Even after we turned it to high we still felt a little chilly.
