The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. Great location in proximity to University of Edinburgh student living. Surrounded by areas for hiking outside. 30 minute walk to the University and same walking distance to downtown.

Disappointing
There was an issue with the WiFi which meant I could not connect at all during my stay. The staff did not take this seriously and were unable to fix the issue. I was given several different reasons, all of which were untrue. Finally, the third staff member I spoke to said there had been recent work done so maybe it was that. My son could not connect his iPhone either. We had no problems connecting elsewhere. The restaurant was frustratingly slow - we waited 20+ mins for 2 drinks to arrive and then another 40+ mins for two burgers which arrived without chips because they had run out at 8pm! They had added some other new potatoes, which were oven baked and still hard. The whole experience was disappointing for a high luxury price and supposedly 4 stars. I won’t be returning.

The location on university halls campus was extremely convenient, while the walk into town was nice too. The room was spacious and the staff very very friendly.
The TV would not connect to the internet so none of the apps worked, the power socket was broken so my phone failed to charge overnight, and the curtains in the room were strangely designed so you couldn't block the light from getting into the room.

The room size was great for what we needed. I also loved the beautiful, modern bathroom. It is really close to the bus lines to get around the city, which was nice as well.
