The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. All rooms also include a TV with a whole host of channels, award winning Novus tea and cafetiere coffee and a desk with ample work space. Our large bathrooms include rainfall showers, Arran Aromatics toiletries and fluffy towels. Absolutely everything!! Although I did think I booked the Scott. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful.
It was a little far from downtown, but the bus was very close.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. A wonderful lady at the reception (whose name I sadly did not get) saved us a lot of money by suggesting we take the bus and not the train to St. Andrews. She gave me great directions and was very patient and helpful. Many many thanks!

Rooms,service, can do brilliant staff, cleanliness and organisation. Great outside area, location is peaceful from 9am onwards. Food was great and reasonably priced.
Noise outside the building in the morning between 7am and 9am. The Outside of the building would benefit from painting.

Location ideal for our stay as we were attending a concert at the castle. Only 30/40 minutes walk for good walkers otherwise buses frequent or taxis available. Rooms clean, high spec, quiet and comfortable. Restaurant lovely with gorgeous food. Staff really helpful. Free parking.
Wine very expensive in the bar.

Everything about our short stay was fantastic! The staff were friendly and kind, great amenities and a fantastic size double room! Super clean throughout and a fantastic breakfast! The location is out a little which is good because it’s very close to public transport to get into the city. Parking was also easy to access.

A wonderful green oasis in the city to relax before going to the Royal Garden Party. The staff were so helpful in getting taxis and taking photos of us in our finery. A memorable time.
