The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. Location ideal for our stay as we were attending a concert at the castle. Only 30/40 minutes walk for good walkers otherwise buses frequent or taxis available. Rooms clean, high spec, quiet and comfortable. Restaurant lovely with gorgeous food. Staff really helpful. Free parking.
Wine very expensive in the bar.

Everything about our short stay was fantastic! The staff were friendly and kind, great amenities and a fantastic size double room! Super clean throughout and a fantastic breakfast! The location is out a little which is good because it’s very close to public transport to get into the city. Parking was also easy to access.

A wonderful green oasis in the city to relax before going to the Royal Garden Party. The staff were so helpful in getting taxis and taking photos of us in our finery. A memorable time.

The beds are huge and very comfortable; room was a good size and well appointed.
I felt that for the price, it would be a good gesture to provide a complimentary bottle of water in the rooms. The breakfast was ok but service for special orders (poached eggs) was very slow.

The room was large and well appointed. Excellent location in Holyrood, easily walkable to nearby shops and restaurants. A slightly longer walk to get into town proper, but still manageable. Staff were lovely throughout our stay.

Great staff, always helpful. The room was very clean and nice. Very good restaurant, both breakfast and dinner. We have allergy and they met our wishes in every way. Although the location is not in the city center it is so nice to wake up with birds singing in front of your window, instead of traffic sound. Short walk to Arthur Seat.
The noise from above, someone in the room on the next floor was walking like a norvegian troll for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. It wasn't possible to sleep. The walls and the sealing are to thin. If I come again I would like to be on the top floor.

The breakfast was delicious, the restaurant is nice, looking out to the garden. The room was spacious, clean and had a view to Arthur's seat from the window. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is in a quite park on the campus, however very good transport connection to the old town.
My matress was a bit soft for my liking, but I usually sleep on a board :D Also, I didn't see any lactose free or plant based milk at breakfast. However I didn't ask the staff, so they might had it, just not out with the "normal" milk.
