The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. All rooms also include a TV with a whole host of channels, award winning Novus tea and cafetiere coffee and a desk with ample work space. Our large bathrooms include rainfall showers, Arran Aromatics toiletries and fluffy towels. Breakfast was fantastic. Gorgeous restaurant, excellent food quality, great variety. Great location, very comfy beds and spacious room. Free parking was an added bonus
I know the bedroom had mood lighting, but slightly brighter would have been better. Shower door/screen - a bit longer so water didnt spray all over the floor - not a great design

For my purposes, going to Festival Theatre, it was a walkable distance in a busy well lit area and allowed me to see more of the south side, shops and cafes ,though a fair walk to city centre/bus station etc.. Nice quiet grounds. Staff friendly and helpful and comfortable room, once I turned up the heating. Good coffee and tea selection and lovely toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, wash and hand cream. Breakfast seemed to be a fixed price, which is okay if you can eat all the items. I had the vegetarian but the sausage looked like meat, otherwise fine, the wilted spinach and tomatoes were lovely.
Found the fitted velux blinds, at first I thought there were no curtains or blinds. Had to turn up heating in evenings. Room was quite plain, though comfortable. Distance from city centre might necessitate use of public transport. Could have benefited from local map or sign posting for attractions. Would have liked some more breakfast options, eg., vegan sausages. Set prices a little on the expensive side, especially if vegan options limited, couldn’t eat all the items.

Clean room with ambience and view of University. Great breakfast choices. 3 beds for family room. Very comfortable and warm in winter. Powerful shower and fluffy towels. Nice shower gel and soap. Nice carpet. Parking. Great location. Great value for money but not national chain. Local but professional team. Friendly helpful staff.
Last parking space so lucky to get a space. Shower floor grouting needed minor repair.

Lovely room and comfortable. Nice size for both of us. Breakfast in the Scott was lovely every morning. Buses are frequent and drop You outside and right into the town which is handy.

Everything was superb. Staff are friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Nice breakfast, clean room, spacious bathroom. Although there was a charge for bringing pets but they provided a doggy welcome pack which is really nice as other hotels we stayed in don’t do that for pets though they charged as well.
The water in the shower took awhile to heat up
