We always stay at the scholar when we visit our son in the university. Clean linens and nice interior. Beds are comfortable but pillows could be improved.
Generally okay but the cups for tea and coffee in the room were dirty with lints from dark tea towel or something plus coffee/tea marks on. The coffee machine wasn’t working either. Very disappointed indeed.

I was there one night for work so couldn’t take much in, but enjoyed staying at the scholar. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it was great walking through the campus.
The shampoo and conditioner there smells incredible!
The food at the restaurant was great.
I look forward to staying again.
Only 2 things would have made it better.
1- the £30 fee for my dog for one night was excessive. While the doggie package was a nice touch, it should be optional as I bring everything my dog needs. £10 for one night is reasonable for a clean dog.
2- the lighting in the bathroom could be better.

Even if the weather doesn't become that hot in Scotland it would be nice with air condition or be able to open the window more.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. From my check-in experience to seeing the cleaning staff in the hallways to the breakfast crew, everyone was cheerful and lovely to interact with. My room (deluxe single) was comfortable, the single bed was larger than a typical single and the mattress was comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful at night.
The breakfast was nice and fairly priced. There was a range of cold continental items, self-serve hot items (full English/scottish), and there were special items available on request at no extra charge (vegan/veggie options, poached/fried eggs, porridge). I had a few poached eggs and they were perfect!
Like other hotels in Edinburgh, the room rates are very high for what you get. But, to be fair to The Scholar, the price of the breakfast was very fair and there's no tray charge for those who want to order room service.

A fresh, great-value place with spacious rooms and genuinely friendly staff that is close to the city center. Parking was available and breakfast was good. If you’re traveling with your pet, expect VIP treatment for them

Excellent property and would recommend in future. It's a little out of the city but it is an easy bus ride in to the city centre or a 10 min taxi ride
Food prices were quite high, but that is more a comment on Edinburgh in general

Awesome location 8 minute walk to Arthur’s Seat. Choose it for location and for free parking (if there was an open space).
Had to be concerned if there would be a parking space open if we happened to go out and get back late.

There was a constant low humming noise in our room and not too kean on the sliding door into shower room.
