The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. All rooms also include a TV with a whole host of channels, award winning Novus tea and cafetiere coffee and a desk with ample work space. Great location for collecting and dropping off students with free parking. The rooms were clean and comfortable to a high standard with all the necessary facilities. Breakfast was extra but well worth it.

We stay here a lot and always feel welcome. It is clean and the bedrooms are basic but comfortable. For us it is the perfect location.
I will carry on saying this every time we stay but the lack of draws is annoying and we leave most of our stuff in our suitcases, not ideal.

It was clean and bright and we had a fantastic view of Arthur’s seat it,the staff are really lovely and energised and always happy to help,the breakfast is absolutely lovely and have so many different options to choose from even a pancake machine!

Great location for us meeting our daughter in Edinburgh Uni halls. Room was spacious very clean, excellent shower and toiletries. Super comfy bed, brilliant view of Arthur’s seat, just about managed to get a parking space.
Unfortunately they were really let down by their breakfast service. This was very oversubscribed and I would suggest that they turn the extra waiting/sitting room. Several people had to wait a bit of time to be seated at breakfast which isn’t really acceptable, the female front of house member of staff was very unpleasant and had a very bad attitude. The quality of the breakfast also wasn’t great. The buffet was decent but the menu and items off the menu made to order were very poor and completely saturated in oil/grease, which was of great disappointment to us. Other hotel staff were great.
