The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel located in the beautiful grounds of the Pollack Estate, just a few minutes’ walk from Arthurs Seat, Holyrood Park and the Meadows and within walking distance of all of the City’s world famous landmarks. The local Southside neighborhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. All bedrooms are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses and quality linen to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. All rooms also include a TV with a whole host of channels, award winning Novus tea and cafetiere coffee and a desk with ample work space. Our large bathrooms include rainfall showers, Arran Aromatics toiletries and fluffy towels. The hotel’s contemporary restaurant, bar and garden dining area proudly serve the highest quality breakfast, lunch and dinner, focusing on using locally sourced Scottish ingredients, allowing you to sample Edinburgh’s excellent food and drink scene without needing to leave the hotel. We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. Its unique location right inside the university campus makes it a great choice, offering a peaceful environment while remaining incredibly connected.Here is what made our stay special:The Room: Spotlessly clean and featured a huge, incredibly comfortable bed that ensured a perfect night's sleep.Dining: Both the breakfast and the hotel restaurant were outstanding with delicious food options.The Location: Super convenient for exploring! It is very close to public transport for a quick ride straight into Edinburgh city center, yet still within easy walking distance of several great local pubs.An excellent balance of comfort, great food, and convenience. We would absolutely stay here again!

The toiletries smelled amazing! The bathroom lighting was amazing, on one side of my face. The room was quiet and a good size. The decor was great. The staff were super kind and helpful.
Parking was a little tricky. The shower was a bit short for my tall husband.

I thought the room was impeccable. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable of my whole trip. The bathroom had a rather luxurious shower with incredible bath products. The breakfasts were incredible, well worth the extra cost.
I didn't love that my room was on the ground floor. I was disappointed seeing that I'd paid for the breakfast for all three days that they couldn't provide me with something to go for my early flight. It was a bit further from the center of town than I thought it would be. But ideal if you want to hike up to Arthur's seat, which I did.
