It was in lovely quiet area next to tram stop goes downtown. They gave me an amazing upgrade for 15 pounds, and it had maybe the best shower head ever. Very comfy bed, view of the pier was great.

This was my second stay. The location is great (depending, of course, on what you want). There are many good restaurants very close. Actually, the hotel restaurant is very good too. The breakfasts are excellent. The staff were unfailingly friendly. It's certainly my go-to hotel in Edinburgh.
Not much. The view from my room was a bit dull but not every room can look over the sea.

Hotel was excellent location for a 2.5 day visit to Edinburgh, just a short tram ride outside of downtown. City bus lines also stop close by, and were easy to navigate. Location away from central tourist area meant it was very peaceful, but there were still plenty of cafes and shops nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, shower had excellent water pressure! I did not eat at the hotel restaurant, other than ordering from the "night bites" menu (limited food available after 10pm). While the options were limited, the food was tasty and arrived quickly.
As the neighborhood is not the central tourist area, restaurants closed earlier and opened a little later than places immediately downtown- plan your meal times accordingly (hotel restaurant *is* open early).

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, comfortable, spacious room. Good access to tram to central city. Plenty of parking.
Amazingly for such a fine, upscale hotel as this,, there were no electrical outlets near the bed. Bring a 10-ft extension cord if you need a cpap machine by the bed, as I do.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Happy to give slightly later checkout to accommodate our plans.
Heating wasn't switched on in the room when we checked in but they happily brought up a heater.

Room and location, along with friendly and helpful Staff made our stay ever so wonderful. The coffee/tea service is a welcome touch and much appreciated.
Lighting in the room, especially the bathroom is hideous, and obviously not designed by anybody concerned about putting make-up on. More lighting in dark corners of the room would have improved our stay (4 nights, 5 days) more comfortable.
Happy to report the Fitness Room facilities are available, though it could use more equipment, lighting and mirrors.

We found the staff at Malmaison to be exceptional. They went above and beyond for every question we asked and were the highlight of staying at this hotel. We really felt the care and passion they had for their craft.
