The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided, the TV was quite big. The location of the hotel is a bit of a walk from the centre of the old town, but very close to the Palace of Holyroodhouse (well worth a visit) and the Scottish Parliament (not as interesting, but nice people on security!). The palace park is a great place for a walk.
The walk to the old town was a bit dark and quiet at night, but it'd be okay if you have company. One of the lifts broke down with some fellow guests in it, they complained that the emergency response people couldn't work out which hotel they were in!
The restaurant was pretty terrible - very limited and overpriced menu, service remarkably slow despite the fact only a couple of tables were taken. I asked whether I'd need a side to go with my chicken and was told no, it's quite a big piece of chicken - but when it arrived, that was all it was! A piece of chicken and a tiny portion of green salad. The food was okay, but certainly not nearly £200 worth - 2 courses with wine for two people.
The room is nice, but the cost is outrageous for what it offers. And despite the expensive room, it still costs £25 a night to park! Considering the price of a room, they should throw in the price of parking like most other hotels do. We parked at the Dynamic Earth facility opposite instead, for a "bargain" £18 for 24 hours.

Probably the name only
To start, the car park looked looks like a junk yard. Mini bar fridge empty, only two water bottles. No coffee machine, no simple slippers. Arriving late we tried to have a dinner in the restaurant, very dissapointing experience. Breakfast may be a bit better, but still very far away from expected Marriott’s quality.

Air conditioning was not functioning properly in the room. Asked that it be fixed. Despite promises that it would be done, nothing was done.
One of the lifts was not functioning on day one of our stay. Very slow to get to the room. Happily, it was fixed afterwards.

Modern room with nice bath. Location is one block off the Royal Mile. In a bit less hectic part of Edinburgh.
Not an obvious place to unload. A/C shut off during the night and I had to turn it back on — but at least it had A/C.

The location was excellent. The rooms were spacious and clean. I love that they offered king size beds. The coffee and tea station was nice with a lovely variety of teas and they provided bottled water each day. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The shower looked nice but the water pressure from the rain shower was low. Also, they only provided one face cloth.The price of the drinks in the bar were rather expensive.
