Beautiful hotel. Fantastic breakfast. Comfy beds, amazing fluffy towels, really helpful staff
Early morning deliveries across the cobblestone street, but it can't be helped

Disappointing
One of the employees at the front desk (Matias) was really helpful. The location is convenient to downtown, although a bit of a walk. Less convenient to/from the airport. Many good food options nearby.
Not a "like or dislike", because it didn't matter to me, but a warning: there is no elevator.
Half of the rooms overlook an inner courtyard where trucks come to idle while being loaded and unloaded during all hours of the day. As early as 5 in the morning and as late as midnight, it is as loud as a factory floor. The window was insufficient to keep out the clanging. I was fortunate to be able to move to a street view room after a couple of nights, which was much better, with just regular traffic and people noises.
The breakfast offerings are very basic, well below even Holiday Inn or Best Western; I think this is the worst I have seen in Europe in 10 years. Scarcely any fruits (all canned), just the same mediocre "hotel scrambled eggs" swimming in its own condensation and cheap sausages every single day. For the price (240 pounds a night), this was a nearly unmitigated disappointment.

Wonderful
Good location near old town and Arthur’s seat.
We were on the top (4th) floor with no elevators, so needed to carry bags up four flights. It was also hot and there was no air conditioning.

The distance to everything was good. Not too close to tourist spots but not too far either.
The room was small and didn’t have enough ventilation

Wonderful
The room was comfortable and well equipped. Tea and coffee was replenished daily. The bed was large and comfortable. It's not a big room but enough space for a short stay. Close to the town centre and the university. Breakfast was very good. Friendly staff.
It was a little noisy facing the road. It's not a busy road but the windows aren't great for blocking the road noise and people walking past in the night.

Wonderful
Convenient for walking to the old city and to Arthur's Seat. Staff was great. Breakfast was very good. Bed was comfortable.
Rooms are small and no elevator so our rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor were a hike with luggage. Breakfast was great but we came in with a rush of people and had to wait for them to restock eggs, refill coffee machine, etc.

Exceptional
The location of this hotel was great to explore Edinburgh. My husband and I were only in for a few days so we didn’t need much space. This is just a great landing for good sleep.
The room is incredibly small, so be prepared that you will likely not spend a lot of time at the hotel. There’s also nowhere to place luggage but the floor.

Pleasant
The front desk service is very enthusiastic.
However, the windows in the room are drafty and not very soundproof. The honking of cars passing by downstairs often wakes you up. Moreover, the curtains are not thick enough, and the morning sunlight shining on your face will also wake you up.
