Booked a large number of rooms as the Hawes Inn was hosting my wedding reception. Everyone who stayed could not have spoke more highly of our chosen venue. Rooms are huge, particularly those facing out over the Forth. The food was incredible. We’re now a few weeks on from our event and our guests are still talking about both the size and quality of the dishes. But the highlight was the staff who could not have been more helpful and were always with a smile and a laugh.
Nothing.

Fair
The location is great and visually attractive. A nice, modern but cosy room. Stunning view. Some very pleasant staff. Good food (for the most part)
Some abrupt and unpleasant interactions especially on arrival and on day 2. Very underwhelming welcome. My own breakfast (a slice of avocado on toast) was way overpriced. Lack of awareness of how hard it is to travel with a disabled guest. We were not shown how to access the restaurant via the back ramp for example. No offer of help on entering the hotel on arrival (I was trying to carry suitcases, push a wheelchair and be addressed quite abruptly trying to check in, and often a cool attitude, I suspect down to being understaffed. I had to ask several times about rearranging the room into a twin from a single duvet.

Good
Room was great - spacious and clean, comfy bed and great shower. I had dinner in the cosy bar, beside a window overlooking the Forth Bridge which was really nice.
This is not the hotel's fault but I wouldn't stay there again as apparently there are regular car meets at South Queensferry and the noise in the evening was awful. My room was on street level and it sounded like Fast and Furious just outside my window. Noise died down around 10.20 pm. Fine if you're going to be out for the evening and coming back late but not ideal if you want to work/read in your room.

Wonderful
Room was larger than expected, considering the room rate. But the down side was the train noise from the bridge. It would only have bothered us if we were sleeping in the day time. Thankfully earplugs and closed windows made all the difference - If there were trains at night I didn't hear them. The location was hard to beat. Easy to step out for a walk and run along the foreshore path. Close to the Dalmeny Train station - 5 min taxi ride. Very close to 2 other restaurants - both good!
Breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced
The toilet seemed to half flush, needing 2 flushes to completely clear the bowl.

Great location. Would recommend booking a room overlooking the sea. We got checked in a bit early which was greatly appreciated. Lovely bar and restaurant and the food is superb. The room was comfortable and traditional.
A fresh lick of paint would be recommended.

My room was always heated, and what was refreshing I could turn it up or down and the bathroom towel rail.
Also every member of staff was very helpful and a smile when greeting me.
I really have nothing to say.
