Breakfasts were great. Ample buffet plus a variety of cooked options. The hotel location is great, with an Edinburgh Tram stop right outside. This made transportation to and from the airport very easy. Walking distance from all of the sights, many restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and also many with a 15 minute walk. This particular Hotel Indigo location is also much quieter (less automobile traffic and foot traffic) than the sister location on Prince's Street.
The room could use some sprucing up. A few electrical items were not working- heated towel bar, lighted mirror, and some electrical outlets. The fridge was also not cold enough to safely store food. The staff did try to fix these issues, but only the lighted mirror was able to be fixed. We weren't overly bothered by these things, but thought the staff should know.

Spent four nights at the hotel, had a very pleasant stay! The room was impressive, even with some signs of wear and tear here and there. It was very clean, spacious and had a super-comfortable bed - that was firm enough, and not soft. Very nice to have a bathroom with both bath-tub and a separate shower - truly great! As I was unfortunately a bit struck by a cold and felt a little under the weather on my trip, the comfortable room was very nice.
The hotel has a very unique boutique charm, with friendly and welcoming staff. The breakfast was very tasty and delicious - and a lot of choices for hot dishes. Felt like being at a restaurant every morning. The location was central and great for walking to sights - and for reaching buses and trains nearby. Also great coffee-shop (Triple-Tri) just outside on the street - as well as a Tesco grocery-shop and a mall around the block for necessities.
Very easy to hear everything that happened in the hallway, people coming and going - as if the door was not closed. Apart from that and a missing toilet brush, everything was fine!

Wonderful
Very nice modern hotel with lots of quirky decor. Was put in a room on a nice quiet corridor.
Great location- round the corner from the train station and not far from the city centre.
The staff were excellent- very pleasant and helpful and accommodating to any needs/queries. Was able to get checked in early so had more time to explore!
The complimentary drinks and snacks in the fridge were a very nice touch and the little bits for my dog were also nice!
There was a loud clicking noise that went off intermittently- not sure if it was the fridge or the thermostat- but especially during the night it kept waking me up as it was that loud.
There was a smashed beer bottle down the steps outside the hotel and all over the pavement- had to move quite a bit so my dog didn’t stand on it but there was too much- unsure if from the hotel but if it was, possibly no glass outside to prevent it happening again!

Disappointing
Not much…bed was fine
- no ability to drop luggage, had to park 500 metres away and walk it to the Hotel which was not explained to us beforehand
- TV did not work nor did the fridge!
- there were stains on the ceiling and flooring was badly scratched

In general, I like the style of the Hotel Indigo. The room size was spacious and the location was very good in the New Town and close to the Tram.
The room did not live up to being a premium room in a boutique hotel due to poor maintenance of the room.
