Very friendly, family-owned hotel in an old 3-storey house. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and room was much better equipped than a chain hotel I stayed in at Edinburgh airport.
The only disadvantage are the narrow stairs and lack of elevator, which is prohibited to be built in an historical building.

Staff and included breakfast were great. We had some minor lighting in the room that didn't function properly. Location was very convenient to bus stops to visit different locales. Easy to walk to a local grocery for other things. Very close to several parks that are within easy walking distance.
Other than a couple of lights in the room not working properly, everything was great.

The staff at the hotel were exceptional. They made us feel welcome and gave us lots of helpful information for getting around Edinburgh.

Great, cozy, quiet hotel. Absolute fair room prizes. Fantastic hosts, always at your service :-)
Besides the general breakfast buffet, special dishes (from a menu card) were cooked according to your personal preferences. (Btw, we can strongly recommend the porridge ;-)
One day we had to leave the hotel at 7 AM (before the official breakfast) in order to go on a full day trip into the Highlands. However, the hosts had then made a breakfast bag ready in the morning, ready to take with us!

The room is very comfortable, easy access to the city centre, bus stop is very near by.

Staff so great. Truly enjoyed talking with Kelly (I hope that's right?) at the Reception Desk who answered our questions with enthusiasm and humor. Enjoyed him so much we went to the "Bar" later for a wee dram with him - and we never do that.
Room spacious enough for 3 nights without cramping. Breakfast great. Location perfect for grabbing a bus and walking Old Town Edinburgh.

Our room was spacious and very comfortable. It was remarkable how quiet our room was and the 12 foot high ceilings added to the ambiance. The shower was quite excellent: full enclosure, choice of overhead rain shower or shower wand, both with normal to fabulous water pressure. The bed was king size and very comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. The hosts Susan and Kevin were delightful and the staff very helpful.
We stayed multiple nights and the hosts graciously stored extra baggage for us while we traveled. Additionally, the staff assisted us in utilizing the local bus service, as well as, provide taxi service for us. Finally, the small pub was perfect for a good pint and/or Scottish whiskey.
Ceilidh-Donia is a very old hotel and although it has been renovated to modern standards there was no elevator (lift). The staff assisted in taking our luggage up the stairs, but a lift would have been the best option.
